Raven.. sorry but your a freaking moron man.. the US and Canada arent enemies no matter how much you seem to wish we were..
As for the border.. your country provides VISA's to just about anyone.. then they come across the border..
The border is fairly porous because of the good relations we have with your country and our interest in free trade with your country.. If we lock the
border down tight.. then that would hurt both Canadian AND US business.. however your country could EASILY crack down on the VISA's that it gives out
and make both of our countries safer without hurting US and Canadian business.
Your country never has been attacked for one reason.. and its not cause your loved by the world.. its because your our neighbor.. and I dont think you
should forget it..
If the US wasnt here.. Canada would be a prime target to have been taken over by some other Nuclear power.. and you would be bowing to them..
If someone attacked your country or your interests.. I would be willing to bet the US would be backing your country 1000% without batting an eyelash..
however now your touting the same stupid anti-war crap I hear from others..
For those stuck on the idea that war never solved anything.. I suggest you talk to Hitler.. oh wait.. you cant.. and thats cause WAR solved that
problem.. permanently..
Would you rather have us wait till a Nuke goes off in the US.. I suppose the radiation cloud will be politically correct enough to turn south at the
border..
Same goes for Biological weapons.. I suppose sickness would know where the border is as well..
Do you seriously think that the weapons the Bush administration is talking about are going to discriminate between Americans and Canadians.. I think
not..
As for more going on than there appears I am sure there is.. I am sure behind the scenes there is a lot more intelligence than the parts you or I know
about..
Do you really think that Bush.. or any American president would send troops to war for no reason..
Come on.. take a look at the facts.. Bush's popularity has dropped like 30% because of his support for the war.. so wheres the political advantage
man? if anything the war is likely to take him OUT of office not keep him in it..
Remember also.. that this troop buildup is costing money.. and hurting the American economy.. and when our economy suffers so does Canada's - so in a
sense your hurting your own country as well..
Oh and by the way.. keep in mind.. you are able to voice your dissent without worry.. however if you were to do the same in Iraq.. you could expect to
be imprisoned or killed..
Or perhaps they would simply rape your wife in front of you as they did in Kuwait..
Get a clue Raven.. read up on Saddam's history..
Oh and BTW.. Americans get a vote as to who our president is.. Candaians dont so if you dont like our president.. thats simply too bad.. because your
not a US citizen.. and you havent got a say in the matter..

Im srry if i offended you A Bullet, i thought this may have been interprited the wrong way, and that would cause some greif with peeps. I ment that
the US should have gone through the UN, even though (i do agree) that war in Iraq is warrented. but u just cant run in guns ablazin.
I know canada and us are co-dependent but i dont like they way peeps think, that we are completly dependent on the US. We use u as body guards, yes
but if we didnt have u guys we would devlop our own military as nessecary.
So im not anti-war but i want a few provem, dang good reasons before we go.

Ok Raven heres some proof he lied... Think hes really gonna tell the truth.
Inspectors: Do you have nuclear weapons biological weapons or help terrorism?
Sadumba$$:No of course not I wouldnt lie to the UN.
Give me a break he did it before he will do it again.
If you noticed the Day bush said he was tierd of playing with Iraq and said we would propbably go to war... They let inspectors talk to scientist they
would let before. And they said look we are letting you all do what you wanted. But they only did this after they probably gave the familys some
threats if they said anything.

Only country I don't like is France but that is me. I know that if need you guys to the north can kick some real ass. War is not something anyone
really wants, but it happens because of people and things we cannot change. Had Saddam been taken out of power this would not be happening. That
could have happend by NATO going all the way in to Iraq in 91 or by his own people taking him out by force. When his people tryed after the gulf war
they where crushed because they had no real training or anyone to back them up at all. But that is the past, and now we can only hope things go as
well as they did in 91. Other wise we all can imagin the kind of hell this is going to be.

Dude...
Wow, I can't believe how offense that was A.Bullet. Look, what does us handing out visa's have to do with the Canada/U.S border patrol?
And we are supporting you. You are our allies, thats what allies do is support each other.
I reiterate, we don't get invaded or attacked because we ARE GOOD PEOPLE! WE ARE PEACE-KEEPERS! WE ARE THE GODdang PEACE KEEPERS! THATS WHAT WE DO!
And I dare any friggen country to try and invade us. We don't have much of a military but what we do have is better trained then much of yours. We
have facts and eveyrthing on it.
I know this is going to start an arguement (again) but seriously it has to be said. I doesnt matter what country does what. U.S is going to invade
Iraq. Canada's going to be right with you. Simple as that.

"AF_Medic ~S2D~ ur a good man with sensible opinions, and u did make some very valid pts. Just like after WW1 there was a council, and Canada was the
first to join, but then Hitler came to power and no one wanted to see another World war so nothing was done until to late. The early UN had no power.
In this situation the UN is sticking to its guns, and all the countries that are Un members are trying to follow the UNs intentions the way the see
fit.
But the US is trying to force their hand; this must not be allowed to happen. Granted Saddam must go, but one country just can’t do it the way the US
is. Now I know the UN has made some poor decisions in the past. What the Americans should be doing instead of criticizing the weapon inspectors, is to
aid them with all the help they can, not start a war."
Ok..let me address a couple of your points (Not in critisism...just my opinion
to what you stated)
"BUT the problem here is that history repeats itself. If the UN or NATO is broken down by the will of the mighty US then there is no point in having
it."
I agree that no one country should have an overbearing opinion on the UN and dictate their policies because then it would no longer be the UN as it
was meant to be. Multible countries with an equal voice. But at the same time the UN leadership needs to stand by the policies that are voted on and
agreed to. anyone know how many times the policies have been changed toward Iraq in the last 12 years? any idea how many times the UN has
said..."Saddam if you don't make good on your promises to disarm there will be a price to pay? I believe the first time was 1991. it is now 12 years
later and the UN is still saying the same things and not providing a punishment for those actions that Saddam has continued to do. So when will the UN
stand behind the policies that it has set? And dosn't the UN lose as much prestige by not following through on what they said they would do?
ex: You tell a child not to turn on the TV until after breakfast...the child turns on the TV anyway. So being a good parent you turn it off again...he
turns it back on...How many times till you decide that the child needs to be spanked for not following the rules?
I know thats made very simplistic. But the same idea. The child will keep doing this until they understand the punishment is not worth the reward.
Again this is just my opinion
and I still love you all up north of the border :D

|
Gee -- hard to figure the connection..
People get entry VISA's for your country.. knowing full well they will be far more likely to be granted a entry VISA to Canada than the US then once
in Canada they know they will be far more likely to be able to gain access through the porous border between the US and Canada than they would if they
were to attempt to enter the US through an airport or port within the US.
Dont get me wrong.. I dont have anything against Canada - I was simply replying to what some of the Canadians have posted on this thread.
| Quote: | | I reiterate, we don't get invaded or attacked because we ARE GOOD PEOPLE! WE ARE PEACE-KEEPERS! WE ARE THE GODdang PEACE KEEPERS! THATS WHAT WE DO!

I suppose by that logic.. that the reason we were attacked on Sept. 11th is because we are bad people? Could you perhaps name some places where your
peace keepers have been that elements of the US military were not deployed as well? - in short we are peace keepers too.
Dont you get it.. the reason we were attacked is NOT because of what we have done or our foreign policy as much as it is about hatred of what we stand
for. The fundamental reason for the terrorists hatred of the US is our freedom of religon.
Freedom of religon or the ability to even be a 'kafir' or non-beleiver is so offensive to these terrorists they are filled with hatred of our country.
Saddam himself runs a supposedly secular country.. however over the course of the last 12 years he has continued his ethnic cleansing campaign to rid
his country of anyone who isnt a Suni Muslim like he is..
Since coming to power in 1968 over 200,000 Iraqi's have simply disappeared and another 3 to 4 million Iraqi's have fled the country to avoid his
ethnic cleansing campaigns.
The Northern and Southern No-Fly zones that were imposed in 1991 in UN resolution 687 were put in place to keep Saddam from gassing the Kurds and
Shiite Muslims. Since then the no-fly zones have been patrolled by US and British warplanes.. which have been enforcing an action mandated by the UN..
During this period Saddam has consistently ignored the UN resolutions and has persisted in attacking our patrols with anti-aircraft and SAM's.
Also.. as for the people saying this is a unilateral action by the US should consider the facts.. this action is supported by the following countries
-
1: Albania
2: Bulgaria
3: Croatia
4: Estonia
5: Latvia
6: Lithuania
7: Macedonia
8: Romania
9: Slovakia
10: Slovenia
11: Italy
12: Denmark
13: Spain
14: Portugal
15: The UK
16: Australia
17: Turkey
18: Oman
19: Jordan
20: Kuwait
21: Qatar
22: Saudi Arabia
23: Isreal
How any intelligent individual can say this is a unilateral action by the US I simply do not understand.. of course we as a superpower have acted in a
leadership role and have asked these countries for thier support - does that mean its unilateral? Come on.. be rational people..
As for all the idiots out there saying let the inspections work - there are currently about 150 inspectors in Iraq.. and those 150 inspectors have 750
Iraqi minders tracking thier every move working to guarantee that the inspectors cannot find anything.
Additionally --
Iraq has approximately 168,000 square miles of land area..
There are 150 inspectors..
That means each inspector would have to cover a land area of 1120 square miles..
As a point of reference.. Rhode Island by contrast has a land area of 1045 square miles.. that means each inspector is responsible for a chunk of land
larger than the state of Rhode Island..
Add to that the fact that Iraqi's have engaged in a pattern of deception and have consistently ignored the persistent warnings of the UN - it is
almost a 100% certainty that the inspectors will never find what the Iraqi's dont want them to find..
Also - Keep in mind the inspectors so far.. have only searched facilities that the Iraqi government knew the UN knew about - if you were attempting to
hide something - would you place it somewhere the person you knew was looking for it would look? or would you have moved things to new facilities that
were hidden to avoid detection?
In Hans Blix report to the UN yesterday he stated that the Iraqi's had rebuilt the molds which are used in the creation of rocket motors for thier Al
Samoud missiles even though the UN had destroyed those exact same molds years earlier for being in breach of UN resolutions - I ask you.. is this the
action of someone who is disarming and cooperating with the UN? I think not..
Yesterday - Saddam announced hours before the Security Council meeting that he had passed a law banning WMD in Iraq.. something that had been asked of
the Iraqi government for years.. and he miraculously passed this law just hours before the Security Council was to receive its report from Hans Blix..
Not surprisingly though.. hours later after that fact was used in speeches by many security council members - the real truth came out in the fact that
the law Saddam passed in actuality didnt ban the state run businesses (the ones who actual create the WMD) from creating these weapons.. it only
stopped private individuals, annd private corporations from having WMD.
Is this enough reasons? or should I go on?

OH one other thing I wanted to mention..
For all of you who believe we are at war for oil.. I wanted to enlighten you..
The French government is probably far more likely to be the ones who are acting to preserve thier oil interests..
Several European and Asian oil companies have in recent years signed deals with Iraq that, if consummated, would give them access to reserves of at
least 50 billion barrels and a potential output of 4-5 million barrels per day (another estimate says that Russian companies alone have signed deals
involving about 70 billion barrels). In addition, a number of contracts have been signed for exploration in the western desert.
Russian, Chinese, and French companies in particular have tried to position themselves to develop new oil fields and to rehabilitate existing ones,
once UN sanctions are lifted. Russias Lukoil, for instance, signed an agreement in 1997 to refurbish and develop the West Qurna field (with 15 billion
barrels of oil reserves). Chinas National Petroleum Corporation signed a deal for the North Rumailah reservoir. And Frances TotalFinaElf has set its
eyes on the giant Majnoon deposits (holding 20-30 billion barrels).
These contracts have been negotiated by Saddams government and have been very generous to the French Russian and Chinese in exchange for thier support
of Saddams Regime while at the same time being very detrimental to Iraq.. of course Saddam doesnt care.. because hes already Rich.. and this helps to
keep his regime in power..
The governments of France, Russia and China realize that should Saddam be ousted.. these contracts will no longer be valid and would need to be
re-negotiated.. and any re- negotiation would be with a post Saddam Iraqi government who cared more about the Iraqi people and building Iraq than it
would about proping up Saddam..
In short.. the French, Russian, and Chinese governments would lose billions of dollars of lucrative contracts if Saddam was removed.. and surprisingly
enough they are the ones opposing war in Iraq..
Hmm seems pretty fishy to me..
Germany has its own reasons for wanting war in Iraq to be avoided.. in the past couple of decades .. German corporations have sold much of the
technology to Iraq that has been used to create WMD - specifically chemical weapons and nerve agents.. these Chemical weapons have been used by Iraq
in the gassing of the Kurds -- documents which proove this connection are very likley to be found after any potential conflict in Iraq. This would
most likely prompt huge Civil Lawsuits against these German corporations which is something the German Government would like to avoid at all costs..
no wonder they are so staunchly against taking down Saddam..
Anyhow.. in closing.. I thought the following quote I found from Kurdish leaders within Iraq was an excellent example of what the Iraqi's think..
rather than what the French and Germans would have you beleive they think.. (quoted from Reuters news)
| Quote: |
DUKAN, Iraq, Feb 15 (Reuters) - An Iraqi Kurd leader said on Saturday French opposition to a war to oust Iraqi President Saddam Hussein ignored the
wishes of the Iraqi people.
"France is not taking into account the Iraqi people's desires and the rights of the Iraqi people," Jalal Talabani, leader of half the breakaway
Kurdish enclave in northern Iraq, told a news conference in the town of Dukan.

iraq re:3
ok, maybe im being a little harsh towards canadians. but man you peace freaks just dont get it, the oil in iraq belongs to its people, as for your
leaders they are just so far to the left and so liberal that they thought bill clinton was a good man. saddam isn going to go into exile and he is
not going to just up and leave iraq, he is a greegy evil man that does not give to [Censored]s about anyone but himseklf and staying
in power. and besides that he is laughing at what fools the french and germans and belgans are, laughing at them cause they are so stupid as to give
him the benefit of the doubt, the guy has millions of tons of chemical weapons , and has givin no account to where they are and what has happened to
them, they only wway of dealing with him is by force need to kill his sons & generals to cause they are all evil people who will never stop bbecause
of their thirst for power. most iopf all they are cowards. shouldnt history play into account here, didnt the world learn anything from hitler, let
these things go let some lunatic get strong enough to start taking over nearby countries and murdering millions of people, what will all you liberals
say then, when all of a sudden we are in ww3 and everybody is saying gee i guess we should have done something! war is not a fun thing, it is not a
grand thing, but sometimes its the only thing that can be done to remedy a situation, iraq has had plenty of oppertunities to avoid it, they refuse to
comply, have for eight years, we had a coward for a president for eight years and now we got one that does what he says a real leader, no matter what
you liberal left wingers say, i think the general population knows to, just look at the last elections, people are sick of the bs they are fed form
the left and are starting to realize that maybe conseritism is a good thing, i know it puts more money in my pockets!

To me it just boils down to the countries just doing whats best for them.
But if Saddam is attacked for the purpose of his capture or death, then he will use WMD to slow down the prosess. I agree the UN inspectors are a lost
cause over there and another solution needs to be made.
That dawg is starting to get on my nerves.... too far left, we just dont wanna see war, we would rather seek out a peaceful alternative if preferable.
But it is becoming evident that war is becoming the only alternative.
The problem is the support for the war. The media is doing a god awful job of giving the facts. People dont have a clue whats going on down there, all
they here is that there may be a war and that the US is ready to go in.
People oppose war because its war, they need facts to support it!!!
So A.Bullet stick some more facts up here and give us some more info cause i know iv learned stuff from ur posts.
And Dawg what have u got against Clinton, u bad mouth him every post iv seen. I dont like him but u seem to have a passion for hating him.
Heres a fact i heard in the news.
Canada MAY, not be able to give troop support in the Iraq war, but i highly doubt that. We have a small military, and most are inguaged in peace
keeping efforts, they are even bring up the reserves to send them out as peace keepers. But i am sure if war breaks out , Canadian will be at least
attached to some American units like some of our snipers were in Afg.

iraq re:4
what have i got against clinton, well lets see, first him and his flunkies take credit for the economy of the 90'S, which was the result of the years
regan was pres. things like economies just dont take place over night it takes time to build them up, all clinton did was tax the hell out of everyone
so much so that there was a surplus, and whats a surplus? if there is asurplus then obviously the government its taxing to much! because of clinton
our econmy took a down turn, which was heading down before bush even came on the seen, how do you rebuild economies its by giving the people their
money and letting them spend it, sure the richer will get more of a break, but hey they pay more in, and are also the ones that make the jobs.
we are dealing with iraq in a tougher way, no one seemed to fight like they do with bush when clinton wanted to go in, you know why its because they
knew that clinton was a man of the polls and not for this counrty or the people. sure he lets a few bombs fly, but he was also shoving cigars in
interns as well.
bush is a different story, cause they know when he says something he means it and does it. now what just a friggin minute we cant expect our
polititians to do what they say can we?
and what else can i say, our election process got us where the usa is today, in only a couple hundred years as an actual country we are the strongest
nation there probably has ever been, and its because of the freedom we offer to those that come here, the fact that a person in this country can have
jack shiut one day and be a millionaire in a couple years or less, we are made up of just about every nationality on earth, and that is something im
proud of, im free to do as i choose and so isnt everyone else, and if we have to use our strength and power to asure that other people in their lands
can have a shot at being free than so be it! all these people marching yelling peace peace, yeah peace is a good thing but i absolutly believe that
once we take out saddam we will all hear horror stories from the people there, and they will be thanking america for giving them their country &
freedom back!

I Didn't...
I didn't mean to imply that American's were warmongerers, so sorry if the message came across that way. It's just that their have been some comments
to indicate that we would let countries stomp all over us. Which is not true. And the VISA thing I guess that makes sense. It is probably easier to
get into Canada then it is the States.
I still believe that on the whole, we are better peace-keepers :D lol

Well I havent got the time to read all of that thread.... but I think that a well known Australian press personality convinced me about my opinion on
this matter:
"The Daily Telegraph in Sydney yesterday editorialised about the weekend peace demonstrations here and around the world.
It rightly said that it was understandable so many people wanted to demonstrate in favour of peace.
But as it also said, the real issue is how will Saddam Hussein be disarmed in accordance with the United Nations resolution.
And how will the world community ensure that the people of Iraq are treated with dignity by their government and have their human rights respected.
As Paul Kelly, writing recently in The Australian argued, if the UN does not act against Saddam Hussein it will represent "a decisive triumph for
rogue states building weapons of mass destruction ... it would signal the collapse of the UN's authority and it would prove that the United States was
unable to defeat its enemies, thereby strengthening those enemies around the world."
Much of course has been made of France's position on this.
The BBC World Service had some interesting thoughts on France and its appeasement policy towards Iraq at the weekend.
The report pointed out that during the Iran/Iraq war, in which almost a million people died and Saddam used weapons of mass destruction, the largest
suppliers of arms to Iraq were Russia and France.
It made the point that France's weapon sales to Iraq back then totalled US 25 billion dollars.
The French oil company Elf-Total has the exploration rights to what is considered, potentially, the world's top two oil reserves, both in Iraq.
The BBC World Service made the point that France built two nuclear reactors in Iraq in the late 1980s.
And the BBC estimated that contracts between France and Iraq are worth in the vicinity of US 3 billion dollars per annum.
The Asian Times reported that deleted portions of Iraq's December 7 report to the United Nations Security Council showed that German companies were
also major suppliers for Iraq's weapons of mass destruction programmes.
That several German companies exported dual use nuclear technologies and precursor chemicals for Iraqi chemical and biological warheads.
So that while Gerhardt Schroeder tells the world Germany wants peace, he may also not want the world to learn the extent to which Germany has helped
Saddam build deadly weapons.
I have to say I saw no flags protesting against France and Germany at the weekend.
Some slogans at the demonstrations said "No blood for oil".
One wonders about whom they were speaking."
- Alan Jones http://2gb.com/cgi-bin/501/501-2gb-news.pl?A=ReadStory&ID=59...
I believe we should defeat So-dang-insane (weird al yankovic) to prevent anymore nuclear powers joining the world.

*Do Not Forget*
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I sat in a movie theater watching "Schindler's List," asked myself, "Why didn't the Jews fight back?"
Now I know why.
I sat in a movie theater, watching "Pearl Harbor" and asked myself, "Why weren't we prepared?"
Now I know why.
Civilized people cannot fathom, much less predict, the actions of evil people.
On September 11, dozens of capable airplane passengers allowed themselves to be overpowered by a handful of poorly armed terrorists because they did
not comprehend the depth of hatred that motivated their captors.
On September 11, thousands of innocent people were murdered because too many Americans naively reject the reality that some nations are dedicated to
the dominance of others. Many political pundits, pacifists and media personnel want us to forget the carnage. They say we must focus on the bravery of
the rescuers and ignore the cowardice of the killers. They implore us to understand the motivation of the perpetrators. Major television stations have
announced they will assist the healing process by not replaying devastating footage of the planes crashing into the Twin Towers.
I will not be manipulated.
I will not pretend to understand.
I will not forget.
I will not forget the liberal media who abused freedom of the press to kick our country when it was vulnerable and hurting.
I will not forget that CBS anchor Dan Rather preceded President Bush's address to the nation with the snide remark, "No matter how you feel about him,
he is still our president."
I will not forget that ABC TV anchor Peter Jennings questioned President Bush's motives for not returning immediately to Washington, DC and commented,
"We're all pretty skeptical and cynical about Washington."
And I will not forget that ABC's Mark Halperin warned if reporters weren't informed of every little detail of this war, they aren't "likely -- nor
should they be expected -- to show deference."
I will not isolate myself from my fellow Americans by pretending an attack on the USS Cole in Yemen was not an attack on the United States of America.
I will not forget the Clinton administration equipped Islamic terrorists and their supporters with the world's most sophisticated telecommunications
equipment and encryption technology, thereby compromising America's ability to trace terrorist radio, cell phone, land lines, faxes and modem
communications.
I will not be appeased with pointless, quick retaliatory strikes like those perfected by the previous administration.
I will not be comforted by "feel-good, do nothing" regulations like the silly "Have your bags been under your control?" question at the airport.
I will not be influenced by so called,"antiwar demonstrators" who exploit the right of expression to chant anti-American obscenities.
I will not forget the moral victory handed the North Vietnamese by American war protesters who reviled and spat upon the returning soldiers, airmen,
sailors and Marines.
I will not be softened by the wishful thinking of pacifists who chose reassurance over reality.
I will embrace the wise words of Prime Minister Tony Blair who told Labor Party conference, "They have no moral inhibition on the slaughter of the
innocent. If they could have murdered not 7,000 but 70,000, does anyone doubt they would have done so and rejoiced in it?
There is no compromise possible with such people, no meeting of minds, no point of understanding with such terror. Just a choice: defeat it or be
defeated by it. And defeat it we must!"
I will force myself to:
-hear the weeping
-feel the helplessness
-imagine the terror
-sense the panic
-smell the burning flesh
- experience the loss
- remember the hatred.
I sat in a movie theater, watching "Private Ryan" and asked myself, "Where did they find the courage?"
Now I know.
We have no choice. Living without liberty is not living.
-- Ed Evans, MGySgt., USMC (Ret.)
Not as lean, Not as mean, But still a Marine.
Keep this going until every living American has read it and memorized it so we don't make the same mistakes.
DO NOT FORGET"
