Size does matter... if it's a ladder?

CapnJSnow - 2-7-2008 at 05:30 PM

OK so I'm not even close to the 1200 max, 800 recommended object size, but I add a ladder and it tells me that the game is too large.

I thought it was maybe the programming of the ladder since it performs a function, but I can add 50 helicopters and it doesn't tell me it's too large, but adding that danged ladder screws the whole game.

Any thoughts?

It's not so much how many you use, but what you use.

You have limited Texture Ram to play with.

If you place 1200 different items, that use different Textures, you'll never get the map to run.

If you use 1 tree, that use .5 of a meg of ram, then you have used .5 of a meg of ram.

If you use the same tree 500 times, you still only use .5 of a meg of Texture Ram..cos the texture is already loaded..

So, if you use 20 different trees, each one uses .5 of a meg, that's 10 megs of Textures Ram.

Same with buildings, some share a texture, this is why, to avoid using too much texture ram.

You are allowed 60 meg per mission before it will crash.

Be careful of using too many different things..
