Sounds like a good idea

My maps have gotten good ratings in the past but it would be nice to be able to contact the low rater and ask what they didn't like. You can't make everyone happy, but as a map maker if you got 30-40 hours in a coop map and someone bags it and you know its at least a 5 or 6 , it's nice to know if it's personal or just ignorance

I only host my maps at LAN parties now. I was thinking of getting back into the pool with JO and then I get the game and Hey! no Map Ed.

Idea make it so that if you rate it comes up with a coment form that has a minimum of characters so that random raters must leave a message if they rate.

Another suggestion...

How about adding an IP Logger or somthing of that sort... making it so that 1 IP may rate any map only once. This would make it far more difficlut to "spam rate" i guess i can call it...

Has anyone looked at this person?? ~Cc~
He has rated like 30 maps, all of them a 1 and never left a comment on any. It's people like him that should be banned from a great site like DFBarracks. My opinion only.

Many Thanks

Eagle Eye,

Thank you very much. I really don't think that is the kind of person you'd want on DFBarracks anyway. Question on the map comments and ratings??? Is it possible to make it if you rate a map, you have to comment on it also, or visa versa??? My personnal opinion, but that would also give the map maker the feedback they need to improve their maps. Just a thought.

Mr B.

Extremley impressive map database here at barracks.
I dont put maps out very often and my biggest claim to mapping fame is finding one of my BHD maps in the top ten BHD downloads at Fileplanet once. I didnt submit it but there you go.

I will be releasing all my maps here from now on I think. I have put my first completed JO map out to Barracks the other day and gave myself a cheeky top rating, so thats me well caught out LOL.

Im looking forward to some quality feedback though, its only by being told where we are going wrong that we can improve our service to the community.

zza1pqx, Welcome to DFB ...

We like to think our Map Data Base is the best around, but, because the public can rate as well, it's open to abuse, so, you just need to take the good with the bad..

There's not a lot we can do to stop them, but at least we can see who rated the map, and some "Follow Up"..

The main comments and ratings to take notice of are the ones from the Staff, the DFB Rating, that's the one that counts, and will always have a fair comment and Rating.

I look forward to seeing some of your "Stuff"..

Regards
EE

I am defaulting from another map hosting service because I have learned none of their staff actually own Joint Ops so I am at a loss how their ratings are supposed to work.
I have seen the public review section of this map db before and in fact good and bad reviews are all good, as long as the feedback is genuine.
I have had 50 downloads of my map from here already.
I like this place :P

I'm 1 of those 50..I'll take a look at it later..I see someone rated it without a comment..typical..LOL..

Staff here don't rate unless they Own the game version, and they must have played the map...

Map rating and comments

When I try to rate a map or make a comment in the jo/e map section I get this page "Not Found
The requested URL /mapdb/rateit.php was not found on this server." I just submitted a JO/E single/COOP map and was counting on this system for feedback so if there was problems with my map I could address them, will this be down for long? TIA

I looked backward into the coop section and the last date where any user comments or ratings were posted eas on Jan 30, 2005.

User ratings will always be questioned

I uploaded some maps yesterday. This morning when I came on the Forum to find if anyone was having problems. I found that the maps had been rated. Cougar had givin them a high rating. He does like the missions he was one of many whom helped me during testing on several servers. But low and behold someone had to snivel about Cougars opinion and rating. Which I think Cougar has every right too express. I don't care for bs2's insinuation and don't really care about the rating. You should just get rid of it. You will know how good a mission is by how many servers are running it anyhow.

I wouldn't mind constructive criticisum. But too attack on someones character? Without even knowing the person or his motives. Thats just low and of no use to anyone.

Members should only be commenting on the map..giving ideas, praise, pointers etc..

Any comments about the mappers personal ability is classed as Flaming, and will be treated as such..

Please post a link to this map..

At the moment I'm trying to decide on just one map site as opposed to the five I'm involved with. The first one I've decided to ditch will remain nameless, but they're out because they only rate by looking at the screen shot. Am I alone in saying that that is just stupid, because arguing the point with them got me a warning. Another site which is fairly new never rates or seems to get people downloading their maps, so they might be next.

So at the moment it's between three of you and I've got to say that DF Barracks is the favourite at this time. Although having said that, my maps here are not being rated at the moment. So I'll just hang on a while and see what happens.

Thx for all the good work guys.
