Oh i see I can't help you on this one m8, You might wanna ask this Gen. Sly fox and other DFLW map makers. But i'm pretty sure its not that difficult. But if you try doing it for DF1, it's very hard.

Just write it in barrels or something else by using the insert function. Then select the barrels and go to their properties give them a z-value of lets say 70. I recomend doing this on an empty map so you can use it again in another map. Just load the map you want the barrels on again and the empty map with the barrels on page2 so you can copy and paste it.

I think making a tag stand up on the ground is hard too. Any suggestions on that. Like what to use other then walls and such.

I'll give you a hint, Don't Bother! I for one, hate sky tags, they detract from a map. They ruin any resemblance of realism. If I rate a map, and it has a sky tag, You automaticly loose 1 point.

Regards

i used to use skytags in my maps i agree with eagle_eye on the subject not because of realizm but because they cause frame lag

when making tags there are a few tips of advice i have
1. make sure you dont overload your maps with to many objects 50 or less is by far enough the more objects u have in the map the more likely it will have lag also it will increase loadtime between maps (i use 18 items in my logo)
2. try not to put more than 1-2 tags in a map 2 is redundant enough more than 2 is just ridiculous
3. make sure u put the tag(s) somewhere where it can b seen by all but will not overwhelm the map
4. after u make your logo on a blank map see if u can find ways to reduce the items needed
5.make sure it looks good test it on a few people ask them if they can read it

when making a skytag
1. remember that it will appear backwards when viewed from the ground so u have to make it backwards in the editor in order for it to appear correctly in the game
2. use absolute z value when placing the objects in a map this way the tag will look right if placed above uneven terrain
3. make sure the tag is high enough that it cannot be seen easily unless you look up in other words u shouldnt be able to see the tag anywhere on the map while looking straight ahead like demonic said around 70 is fine around 100-125 absolute

u can use almost anything 4 a logo crates. guns. barrels. walls. fence poles(pitched 90degrees) spotlights, wood bridges,arrows,bushes,telephole poles(pitched 90degrees) ladders(pitched 82degrees).stone blocks,ect,ect,ect

yeh i totaly agree , sky tags are really stupid and cause major irritation when lookin in a scope or running
and as falcon said frame lag, i for one would rate a map low for having a tag
also you should search through the topics as this subject has been coverd many times and its just repatition

I have a different take on this. Tags are fine if they are placed in such a way that they don't interfere with the appearance of a mission. Some mapmakers have no common sense and make gigantic tags and then place them all over the map. However a single, attractive, SMALL tag placed near the Exfil of a mission is perfectly acceptable in my eyes. It's kind of like an artist signing their painting or a movie director's name in the credit of his film. There's no reason an "artist" shouldn't be recognized for their hard work.

On the otherhand, if your map sucks then don't put your name in it because I'll shoot you if I see you in a server.

I am even harder than EE, when it comes to sky tags. I will automatically deduct 2 points. Not only do the make the map tacky and unrealistic, it can also cause lag.

If you must tag your map place it on the side of a building as a sign or name.
