members can help free up space in MDB

Members please give links to maps with the following problems

1. Maps with improper Screen Shots(other than the recent improper Screen Shoots that are not at the fault of the mapper)

2. Maps with improper description IE. fun map, my first map etc

3. Zips that don't include game file IE. BMS , NPJ or empty zips

4. Corrupt ZIP BMS, or NPJ files

5. Any map that causes game to crash, lockup, close or a SYS.DUMP.

6. Very low quality maps made with very few items and have a lot of issue IE floating, flicker, poorly placed or no Spawn markers ETC just poor construction in general.

7. custom objects that are not in a playable format. IE. TDM DM ETC.

8. skins(Staff these should be left for EE and Fireant to decide on)

please leave an accurate description of problem as well as a link to the map

I will go through the links sent in DFLW BHD BHDTD and DFX.

NOTE: we will not automatically delete maps they will all be tested(with exception of SS and description) Any map links posted that are found to be valid and seem to be based on BIAS other than the above reasons. That members replies will be edited to remove links and any future links made by member to maps will be ignored.

All help is appreciated by DFB staff

another way members can help

Free up space in the map data base by updating any of your maps that the ZIPFILE includes a SCREEN SHOT by removing the SCREENSHOT from the ZIP then update the ZIP

Just the Zipped SCREEN SHOT alone can take up enough space as several single BMS ZIPs

screen shots zip around 100-300K BMS simple maps can zip as little as 2-3k each BMS. Complex maps as much as 20-30K each BMS

so in other words one updated map that the screen shot has been removed from should free up enough space for at least 3 ZIPPED BMS files.

NOTE: A SCREEN SHOT included in the ZIP may be one more strike against it when debating whether to remove a map

What he means to say is this...

If you happen to find a map with invalid credentials, post a link and we can deal with it.

Cheers,

Credentials means:

What you stated in the top post of this topic, those are many of the rules we go by in our decision to take action on a given map.

I'm not an admin guy but I have noticed there are a lot of really old maps in the DB. Some go back to 2004. Maybe it is possible to set up to auto delete after map reaches a certain age. or just delete really old maps. like the ones made for IC mod 1 and 2, which are not playable anymore.

i dont know if it was deleted or what, but i've been trying to post a map now for over a week, each time it gives me an error message, i finally got it in there, and it wasn't registering my screen shot, and i know its valid and all, its in jpeg format ect...

but now, that map is no longer in the data base... which isn't all that bad, I'll just re-submit it when its possible, but the weird thing about it was that when i submitted it, it was the 4th one down and was registered that i posted it on the 6th, when really i posted it on the 10th... I'm just guessing that in my control panel it was registered as an incomplete posting, i dunno though...

just some of my thoughts and whats been bugging me lol...

**edit** I took a look at my u2u's and seen that the map that i had posted was deleted due to it having an invalid screen shot, but i dont know a way around it, I've tried probably 30 times now to get that map into the data base and each time I got this error message ( Error message )

and only once did it allow me to post the map, but it refused to allow me to use the screen shot i had, even when going through the control panel to manually re-register the screen shot...

**EDIT#2**

ok, i just went to try and re-submit it... went to the control panel and deleted my last attempt of trying to post it, went back through, changed the name slightly, checked the format of the picture for the... well... god only knows how many times I've checked it cause I've lost count... and even made the picture smaller... and still got that same error... so i dunno...

any help would be appreciated though...

Sounds like a bandwidth issue, the current staff is working on it, as well as a resolution for the issue. (sounds server sided). Plz be patient. Also, on another note here, the older maps, wayyyyy back that still rock, or are in use, with proper d/loads, etc, should be able to be kept, ie: alot of players like those good ole days. ;) We'll do what we can when we can, hang tough.
