Free VB Compilers

If your cheap like me and can't afford to buy the real version of Visual Basic, this thread may help you out.

There isn't many but here is a few free ones i know of, ill add to the list as i find them.

1.) Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition: This is absolutely the best free compiler offered by Microsoft itself. It has most of the features of VB6, and is a great one for the hobby programmer. Easy drag and drop interface and really helps you with your code.

2.) Envelop Compiler: This one has drag and drop features, but is pretty old and only works with old code, so tutorials won't work and it will be hard to learn, yet easy interface.

3.) #Develop: This also looks like a good one to use, i've used it a few times, nice tech team and support at their forum. Worth checking out.

For the best free, open source

#develop (read Sharp Develop)

http://icsharpcode.net

But I agree, the VB Express edition is the best. Though for the programs I'm currently writing I'm using C# 2005 Express edition

After posting my question on how to compile my VB .net 2003 programs I downloaded the VB Express 2005 yesterday and I am really amazed ! I was able to use my old projects and even compile an installversion of them. Great ! How come Billy boy got so generous? I can only recommend the free VB Express 2005 for anyone who would like to learn Basic.

I have been looking and haven't found any thing that really works.

Or they want you to pay for it.

Just keep working on it, ask questions and live on google.

Google is how I figure out most of my programing questions.

googling "vb.net delete files" will turn up tons of stuff on deleting files

lol, there really isn't much difference between the two, other then the syntax, of the 2 vb is probably the easiest to learn.

Just a tip: Don't forget your ;'s after each statement. You forget one of those you will get errors and it won't compile
