Tutorial level: Beginner : Your first application walkthrough.
Today we will begin our expedition and create our first program, which will simply display a messagebox.
1.) Open up Visual Basic, I use the free one, Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition, which works with most VB6 code.
2.) Go to File....New and select Windows Application, name whatever you like.
3.) Now we have a blank form, you can go to the properties box on the right, and find the "Text" property, and name your program. You can play with
all these properties, change color, size, etc.
4.) Alright, in our application, we want to add a button, click and hold the button in the toolbox to the left, and drag it onto your form, move it
where you would like, and you can also go to the properties tab, and name it in the "Text" field again.
5.) Now, here is how we write the code. Double click on the button, you will not we at the code screen where we write.
You should see a code such as Private Sub Button1_Click blah blah blah. Ignore this for now since its a bit
One of the greatest things about VB, which may spoil you as a programmer is it is the code is very simple and understandable.
Now type this MessageBox.Show("Im Programming") under the Private Sub stuff.
6.) Now click on the Green Arrow, which runs your application.
Now you can click your button and watch the message.
We have completed our first program, play around with the code and make some yourself.
