What Makes A Good Squad !!!

Hi, Going to try this again.Hopefully this post well help people pick their squad that they want to join more carefully.

Just gaming on their server is not enough, you should investigate as much as you can. The squad is not just picking you, you are also picking a squad. So be very thorough.

The reason I bring this up is, my last squad had a few problems. Lots of political goings on in regards to the interworkings of the squad. Now they try to promote that they are above all the bad things about gaming online. This is total and pure baloney. Their Forum is nothing but a place for them to be petty little dictators. There are very little freedoms in this forum. Hey, you might think it was run by the Tailban or Saddam or maybe "Uncle" Joe Stalin. These ****amamie clowns think they're in the right.

So I'll put it to you. Do you think that not letting someone in your forum voice their opinion is right? Do you think it is right that you are told, that if you game on certain server you will be banned? Also do you think it's right that if they find out that you have been talking to people that they don't approve of, you will be banned?

So this squad claiming that they always take the high-road is faulty. It's more like the sewer. I still have friends there and I hope that they can reclaim their squad some day and I wish them all great gaming. The name of this squad will not be posted here. Instead because of the sinister nature of the leadership of this squad. you can U2U me and i'll let you know who they are.

Good Luck All and remember "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" (quoted from Edmund Burke.)

A perfect squad would just be a group of people out to have fun and not see how many people they can get in the squad. They would just try to have as much fun as possible, and if there was a problem most, or all, of the members would try to resolve it...

And I have yet to find a squad like that, so I'm sticking to something said by I.R.A.T.E.

Umm... it would be better to have it so that there is no age limit, more of a if they can get along well and follow rules limit... I know a few people that are younger then me (which is under 16) that are real fun to play with and arn't a pain...

I have to agree with Alex on this...I was his XO...lol

Our CO was a psyco [Censored], but the team name shall remain unmentioned...

The problem with 90% of squads/clans is that they are run by kids under the age of 20... There are a few exceptional ones out there, but they are few.

They take on the mentality that just because they started the team means only what they say go's...Thats complete BS!

Maturity plays a big factor in running a squad, A squad leader has to have the people skills neccessary in taking control, but only when required. A few trusted friends of a like mind act as the 2nd and /or 3rd in command.

The entire team must get along like a family, not like a bunch of rampaging Hitlers...

Being a former squad leader since the DF1 days, Ive been thru the hoops of about any and all things related to squads that you can think of...I have talked about what a real squad means with old school guys like me that have been there and done that..Guess what..?

They agree completely with me...

I have given up on the whole "Join my squad" thing...too much drama and too many young leaders... I just hang with the older guys over the age of 40 that still whoop ass and were just a big family of brothers. All members are allowed to speak their mind, but also are allowed to help out the team with any and all skills they may have...If they have no skills, then the other members teach them. And no one picks them apart because they dont 'know' something.

Much like the senior staff here at DFB...were a 'FAMILY" not a bunch of control freaks... Those guys always lose.

My Sqd is more like 1 big family, sure we have our differences of opinion & disagreements but we're still together & still growing.
We have a large range of members boh male & female with ages from the mid teens to the mid 40's.

We've had our issues in the past with Leaders that either just up & leave ( No disrepect to is directed at them ) or just twist things around & become another dictator & only wants absolute power ( Retards like this dont last long ).

We 1st started back when it was only DF1 & now we've become a multi - gaming Family, there are still a few that play DF1 ( no life....lol ), 1 or 2 play LW & TFD, quite a few play BHD, a few, myself included, play JO, half the clan play other games like World of Warcraft, Knights Online, etc.
We also run our own TS & we have FUN.

My Sqd's Site can be found on my profile

There I'm known as Unclebuck S.A.S

Great to hear...but again, ive pretty much gave up on teams...just too much of a headache. I enjoy playing with friends...but im sick of the drama that goes with it...
I get invited to teams all the time, but I respectfully always decline and just play.

I always play under the name SuoiveD, the reason is that alhough I'm a member of S.A.S under another name I prefer to just play what I want when I want. I'm still very much the Lone Wolf, some things just don't change....lol.

Hi,

I think in a good squad the mates stay together with repect and friendship. A millitary like command structure is not good in every range of life.
All mates should have the same rigths, and not too different interessts.
All decisions have to be done in a democratic way, excluding a few thinks about the administration of the hompage, the gameserver and so on.
Each member likes to help each other, and everyone can speak out what he/she think.
And the range of age should not be too apard because of the differend interessts and the tenor to life. And most of the teens changes their interessts in short time often.
In a good squad the leader/leaders are more like animateurs and admins and government. And they have to be an archetype. Nobody have to command each other. And there are no commitments.
A good squad is not active in requting because a good squad is to be in great demand. And all members should to be included into the decision of a candidad, because all member have to live with the new member. It's better for the "working atmosphere".

In our squad there are 20 member at the moment including one female. And we have a "clan" (I hate this word) council including four member. This is much better the one dictator. I'm a member of this
council, and I can say that we are there for all member whatever is the problem (computer, games, life).
This council administrates the homepage and the gameserver including TS and all other programs that are required for playing Joint Operations. And we are planning different events to entertain our members as good as possible. At the moment for example I'm holding an online seminar about map making. An other council member has the job to hold contact to BIS (a game developement studio) to get hot informations about Armed Assault and to stay close with them to be an official fan site in the future.
Each council member have specific jobs.

I would say we are all familiar together. And that's the most important point.

Hope everyone can understand what I'm talking about, because of my bad english.

Best redards,

Well said...Ill sum up.

We are all members of the same community...we play for the same reason. (to have fun)

Its a game, so have fun, but dont dis on others.

Have some respect for others.

Some give and some take...Thats a fact of life.

Some abuse this fact and if we showed up at their door to stuff all the bad things they are so brave to say thru their pc...They would be running to Mommy and hide under her skirt.

That should separate the men from the boys.....

Its 'Put up or shut up" in my book...dont talk smack unless you can back it up. If you want to talk up ppl in a server, then proove you can do it 1st...or go elsewhere.

That translates too....stfu and play...take your BS elsewhere.

period.

Alot of interesting points were made by reading the previous replies!!!

What makes a good squad in my opinion:

1.) Get along with people/players in general.

2.) Be honest with your opinions and respect the other person's opinions as well.

3.) Do not dis-respect them for their race or ethnic backrounds.

3.) Learn to be a team player. If you are a better than they are, teach them what you have learned.

4.) It is more than just a game!!! People's character defects do intertwine from time to time. It is how you as an individual handle the matter after the event is what counts.

5.) If you put positive actions towards people and the squad, you will receive the same in return.

6.) Try to be in a squad where members are around or close to the same age bracket as you are.

7.) Nothing is ever perfect in this world. Trust me.......I used to be a perfectionist.

8.) "Do unto others as you would have them do to you".

There are probably more to add to this list, but that's all I can think of at the moment. hehe

:cool::cool::cool:

I like dnt mind some kids under 16, because im 17 myself, its just that line of maturity, that is differnt between an adult and a child.

99.6% of them cheat and try to corrupt thigns lol

Hi,

kids are check the borders. It's normal. We had done the same when we were young ;)
But if we became older and older, we are get more lore (hope so.... ):)
And that's the thing that vary us from the kids.
Kids should play with kids, and adults should play with adults. Ok, not what you think ;) Ok, a little bit :P

If you are staying in a squad that will be lead by a dictator, cancel your membership as fast as you can, it's better for your nerves. Take a look at ohter squads, and you will find the right for you.

Best regards,

You know, it would be the best, if those, who are dictated and opressed <-(hope I spelled right) by their squad, should quit it and start a squad on their own. That way they could have fun and no one would tell them what to do and they could open their squad for others that are in the same situation, in which they were once

Its not about the skill level of the player...its about the friendships made and at time teamwork in the things the team can achieve as a whole unit....

Not who you can 'pwn'.... Go back and keep sniping bases...Ill knife you shortly, or you can meet the 'buisiness end' of my weapon of choise.

bye.

Hi,

maybe, if all member of the squad want to play in a league. But whats about the other interests of life? Do you realy think skills are enough to stay close with ohters? I don't think so, because to play with other people, you don't met in real life ever, it's the same as you stay together with your real life friends.
If you don't like a guy or girl, you don't want to take alot of free time to stay close with him/her, even if he/she have some good skills. If the chemistry don't corresponding, nobody like to stay close with the an ohter.
That was teached us older guys by life.

And nobody have excelent skills from the bigenning. In german we say "Es ist noch kein Meister vom Himmel gefallen." that called in egnlish "There was not fallen any master from the sky.".
That means everybody have to learn to be "perfect" in any range. And if someone have less skills he/she can learn, but not if others don't help. In a good squad the better skilled member teach each other who have less skills. And that can't be done if there is no friendship.
While looking only at the skills of other life is poor.
Friendship is one of the most important things in life.
And teamwork is one of the important things in life and while playing games like DF or JO, because in a team everything will be goning easier. That's why we found families, to join to a sports club or to have more fun while playing games.

I wish you would think about.
Bu I belief you thinking "shut up gramps, we are young and the world is our!" :)
And you are right, but only by reason that we gramps are have show you youngsters the way ;)

Best regards

Very well said Postman,,My last squad could learn something from these posts. As coaches are found of saying"Their is no I in team"

A lot of peole in this squad would stride to be the best in every game but, at the cost of the rest of the squad. They are super knifer's, they could out run the other side's fire and kill who they wanted to kill, all the time the rest of the squad is left without support. That's why they don't like to play TDM because it interfears with their ego.

A small few of the memeber would try to help the less exsperienced players to improve their ability. Will call him Sword, he was great at giving tips and explaining how things work in the game.He was truly in the minority and was the exception not the rule.

Also a memember ,we'll call her The Empress, she was incredible ,always ready to giving helping hand to anyone who would ask for it .And again she was an exception.

With a lot of the other memember it was almost like they didn't want to disclose anything because they didn't want to give away their secrets.

They were big on complimenting, but you can tell a lot of it is insincere and full of platitudes.

And so when you choose a squad ask yourself , do I want to be part of a team or do you want to be an "I".

Hey Postman and FireAnt I would be honored to go into Battle with you two.For you exhibit what it is to be a team memember. "HOOAH"
