My AI wont stay where i place them

Ok folks i seem to be having an issue wih the jo med when i place some AI in the barracks buildings.

They wont stay in there they appear on startup out side of the building. If you would like to see a sample of this download my escalation map its called remote airport.

When you run the map look toward the gate leading to the air tower toward the left is a sand bunker with one aAI in it then you will see 2 AI standing outside the building.

hose two AI are meant to be in the barracks building but they wont stay the mission includes the mis file for you to look at any help would be appreciated as it is essential i get them to stay in there for my next map.

Regards

try placing them outside the buildings and telepoting them in or give them way points to where u want them

it could be where you are tyring to put them there is a collition box which will kick them out of the building try placing a SP spawn in same place as the 2 AI your having probs with to see if it does it to you

Ok i found the issue it was just the fact that the building was higher than floor level and i hadnt increased the AI Z values changed them and they stay where i place them.

thanks falcon

how about ai that you want to stay in place and shoot?

i have snipers that i do not want to run from their positions(ex. on rooftops).

ive tried everything, and yet they keep committing suicide.

nvm, i got them to stay, but they really dont shoot unless they are shot at. i want them to shoot on sight. i used the events to make them do that, but they still need to be shot at.

also, why do the friendlies with sawsalways look like they are in the grounds up to their waists??????

I have actually got my AI snipers to to shoot at the bad guys without being provoked you need to set theyre distances all the same very high mine are set at 200 m.

And set them on red alert they should then shoot at any bad guys in theyre range.

did that. maybe because of which sniper i used? female with dragonov? should i try the other snipers?

had them set to attack at 300m max engage was low so they would not walk off the roof, but min engage was at 250. red alert state, but we still had to shoot first.

Jabo,

Chris has already said this but to clarify...

set max,min and attack range to 300, your snipers will stay put.

Min. eng. dist

If you set the minimum engagement distance to 0 (zero), your bot will stay where you placed him. Regardless of what you set the max attack and max engagement distance to.

guarding AI that shoot

this reply comes late I know, and you have probably figured out what you need to know, but this might be helpful to someone else.
I set my attack distance to 350 or higher. I set my max egagement dist to 250 and my min egagement dist to 250. what that means is they will be ready to shoot you when you are 350 m from them but they wont until you are 250m from them. I have experimented with different settings and a good one for cqb situations is 150,75,75. setting the mix and max egagement dist the same will keep them in one place. i.e. 150, 75, 25 they will see u at 150 run at u when 75 and stop when 25 from you. hope this helps anyone.
