Briefings are done with a 3rd party tool. You can read about it in this thread. http://www.dfbarracks.com/forums/viewthread.php?tid=35000

Warning! If you make your own goals and waypoints with this tool, then the players must d/l your file which will contain the BIN file. I just updated 4 of my coop missions because of this.

I was wondering why players were running around my coop missions like wild turkeys. Turned out that waypoints and goals weren't showing up correctly on their end since they hadn't d/l my missions.

thx Jonathan :D

The topic was "Briefing"
I've played some of your maps with the briefing displaying without any problems. How do you do that?

Here's where you can find the BIN tool.
http://www.dfbarracks.com/downloads/index.php?action=df&fid=...

With this tool, you can take a Text file and convert it to a mission BIN file. The BIN file is then used to display mission goals, waypoints, and a mission briefing to the player.

The best way to start is to look at an existing Text file. If you look at one of mine, you'll see the mission info that I inserted. Next make a copy of the Text file and rename it to the same name as your mission: Yourmission.txt. Now open the text file with an application like Notepad and change the mission briefing, mission title, ... If you want your own mission goals, you can do that too. Just make sure that you don't mess the with the handlecodes: the codes inside the left and right arrow symbols.

Then run the TXT2BIN.exe file, select your mission.txt file.

Now, open your mission with the MED editor.
If you inserted you own mission goals, they should now appear in the drop down goals list.

Hope u dont mind me asking but Ive tried using the BIN2TXT and TXT2BIN prog and had major headaches. The custom waypoints seem to work but the .BMS file extension still shows, the load screen briefing will not show up in the MED or the game screen. I used the PFF file extractor to get the original SP files and just mod'ed the text but .... no joy. Any ideas?

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser gate. All those moments will be lost. Time to die.
Praise be to ANOSHI and his TUT's

First, are you trying to make your own mission or modify one of the canned missions in DFx? I can't help you with the canned DFx missions.

Note: I have yet to see any briefing appear correctly in the MED. Even when using the BIN file tools. When I make a custom single player mission, I use the TXT file for mission briefing, custome waypoints, and my own goals.

BTW Be sure to read the basic_bin_file_tutorial.htm that was included with the BIN tool
