yes and no.
you would need 2 game discs so you both have 1. The router is like a hub in the respect that you can run 2 pc's or more from it.
There is also the IP factor which comes into play, but some of the folks can answer that better then I can. hang in there.

Definate Yes And NPs
Doesnt matter if you r behind arouter or use router software in one machine be it something like wingate, or ICS built into windows, just dont run ICS
or routing software at the same time as a router other wise u will screw up you local network and it is a [Censored] to fix in XP

Well u asked if 2 ppl can play the same server...yes...now thats asuming that your network is set up correct...An u are running legit copies of the
games...we dont deal with warez, so the latter is assumed
So are u having a problem IF so what is happening , how is you lan set up?

Yes both copies r legit and both can play on diff servers at the same time but no in the same server so like I think its
something like having the same IP addy going to the server for both games.
OK so like I have a router installed on a cable modem. Both r on Windows XP. I had to set the ports to just forward and not block but I dont know much
about that stuff. I do have a firewall installed on both comps. Other than that I totally have no idea what to tell u that would help me. Thanks for
trying.

u dont need to open ports to play.
As far as ips/ports go, it sort of works like this
both goes out the router on diff ports
machine 1 connects to router on local ip:port 123, the NAT then sends off from external ip:port456
Server sends back info to external ip:456 router picks it up the thru NAT sends to local ip 123
2 machine does same sends off local ip:yyy (local ip diff to machine1) to router, router sends off external ip: 789, server sends back on port 789,
router recieves NAT as it came in on diff port to machine 1 to machine 1, router then sends to machine 2 local ip and port
THAT is why it isa called a router..it routes info to correct machines.
If u are running into probs maybe u have a machine with ics or something enabled that along with the router is issuing ips to the local network and
screwing up...thats the most common prob..to fix is a head ache in XP. I unisall network cards, make sure ics is not in services, reboot..clear cache
in router
There could be other reasons in your configuration also...there are detailed explanations and fixes in old posts...in very lay terms...u have to
understand the principles of how things work..there are also simple explanations to this in old posts...non techie.

Hosting JointOps/Escalation
I'm having a similar problem regarding the ability to host games on my computer, but playing via LAN (with my other computer) works fine. I followed
the detailed steps noted within this excellent forum and created a stagnant IP address, opened-up all of the required ports (for JointOps/Escalation)
in both XP, as well as in my Linksys router, but my other computer still gets the 'enumerating' message when I try to join my server. I only do this,
so that I can see if others are able to see my server. It shows-up on the server list okay, but shows zero ping. I can serve/play, but that's about
it, as it appears that other computers (players) are still unable to join my server. Did I possibly do something incorrect and/or is there possibly
another step I yet need to take? Please advise and thanks for your help.

Azteco....
This worked for me a while ago. This is at least what I remember.
You have to disable the firewall. Then you have to enable ICMP which is located in the properties of your internet connection. In your firewall
connections go to the tab labeled advanced and go to the ICMP settings on in the middle. Check all of the boxes here. Then go to start/run/and in the
box type 'cmd'. You will see a black box. Here you type 'ipconfig/all' and hit enter. The information in this black box you will use to type in to the
section Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

2 ppl same server
Had the same problem long ago easiest fix is to open DMZ
this ofcourse makes your system vulnerable to attack but when your done in the same server just disable DMZ.
step has it on the nose here but if your not a guru like me then DMZ will solve the problem at hand lol
putting the correct things in your router port settings is the key.
I don't use a router anymore and forget all the settings but they are on this post anyway.
happy gaming

My suggestion is DO NOT open the DMZ..
I did this when I got my new Modem/router (Cos mine got zapped by lightning)..
I thought I had a fully patched system...well..
I had shared folders..every exe file in those shared folders was attacked..
I lost over 400 files, cos they where unrepairable..
I keep a backup of those files on DVD, so I was lucky..
I had my Novalogic folder shared for the network..I had DF1, Df2, Df3, Df4, BHD, JO, JOE and DFX installed..all of the exe files where infected..
So, be carefull with the DMZ..

External hard drives are very good Alot of the time along with DVD/CDRW.
external hard drive. you can put programs on their so that it doesn't take up space on your comp. Less risk of them folders being hacked into. And
saves your pc basically.
but there agen if something happens to that external drive all work is lost. So you do as EE says and backup on disk

Netgear WPN824 Hosting does not work
Netgear WPN824 Hosting does not work
(playing on-line works.)
I have tried everything. Can't host a game.
Fully patched. Router updated.
All listed ports open. (32768,7597,49152,64206 UDP)
In or out of the DMZ.
DF Typhoon or Escalation. (DFX works)
Guess the router is a bad one.
Netgear will not respond to questions.
I will need to switch router out of the
loop to play.
Anyone out there hosting with this router?
Dave
If the game comes out for COOP
play. I buy it.

Your say DFX works, but JO Doesn't?
Funny, cos they use the same port number, unless you changed them in the game.cfg.
Strange....The top post says 64026, and my config says 65536....maybe this isn't what I think it's for...LOL..
I know I've used the ports in the first post to host DFX, but I've never setup a server for JO.

Hosting a JOserver
Hello Eagle_Eye.
The top post says 64206 not 64026.
The 65536 is a max port value. Because ports can not be higher than 65535. (which is FFFF hex.)
But yes, I can host and play DFX games while in the DMZ. (open ports do not allow hosting.)
And no, I have not chaned my default ports in the game.cfg file.)
But on JO, putting the computer on the router's DMZ or the open ports do not allow me to host a game. (well, I can host the game. Internet
players just just get enumerating forever. and can not play.)
Naturally, I can play any online game with other players servers.
Last night, I moved back to an old router
(Dlink DI-784) And it allows hosting while
in the DMZ. (I use Zone Alarm to protect the system while playing that way.) (was playing the IC mod maps.)
I have left notes for Novalogic and they do not answer. I have left notes to Netgear and they say they are too busy to read email. (automated email.)
It is funny how the routers DMZ is not really a DMZ. (fully open to the Internet)
Bad Wireless router: Netgear WPN824
Good Wireless router: DLink DI 784.
The Netgear is a real nice router otherwise.
All other multiplayer games work. (play and host.) PS. My game machine is hooked directly to the router. Not wireless.)
If I could get Novalogic to put in the network drivers they have to DFX in JO. Everything would be good.
Thanks
Dave

Dammit, I still cannot Host my game
I have followed these posts carefully but have had NO luck in getting my machine to host my DFX games. I changed the setting in my router to DMZ
(only for my host machine) but everytime I try to access the game (which appears on Novalogic) with my other gaming PC it still sticks at "Enumerating
Session" with a 0 ping rate. I have tried forwarding all the required ports, and the same with triggering. I turned off all firewalls to the host
machine and still have had no luck...any suggestions?
