Using the .LWF and .DBF dialogs files in SP maps.

by now there is no tool to Create the .LWF file for the dialog.
BUT, there is a way to use it with out a tool.
This way consist in to USE the .LWF and .DBF from Nova SP maps onto your Customs SP map.
So, you would have to extract the .LWF and .DBF from any SPBHD_#, and Rename it with the Name of your map.
I have make somes dialogs list of SPBHD_# maps.
Here are the list of Somes SPBHD_# maps:

So, If you using any of this dialogs for any of your map, you can Extract the SPBHD_# Dialogs files(.LWF, .DBF), and rename it with the name of your
map. So with doing that you can use the voices in the MED.

I know there are more SPBHD_# maps, But i didn't have time to check the others one. So, i Just post in here the ones that i check.
But, as soon i get more time to write and post the list of dialogs of the other SPBHD_# maps, i will due. LOL

*Suggestions*, *corrections* or *additional* information gratefully accepted.
HOWEVER IF YOU WISH TO PASS IT ON OR POST IT ON ANOTHER WEB SITE PLEASE LET ME KNOW SO YOU CAN RECEIVE UPDATED INFO.
THIS SMALL LIST HAS TAKE SOME TIME I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF IT WASN’T POSTED ON OTHER SITES WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE AS I CANT UPDATE IT IF I DON’T KNOW ABOUT IT. LOL

Utility’s and Tools:
You would need the BHD wav's list to know what those every wav for the dialog is about. List is located in here:

Wav listing for BHD by Chrislew200

Also you would need the .PFF Files Extractor to Extarct the dialog files from the SPBHD_# map's.
All the files are located at the localress.PFF.
Here is the tool.

PFF utility v0.7 by FwO Raven

Remenber you only need to extract the .LWF and the .DBF, and rename it with the name of your map.

The most obvious sign that there is intelligent life out

joselz's doesn't mean edit the file, this is a list of the dialogs already in those files..you'll need to look up what each of the wave files are, then, you can use the Nova files for you own game....just rename them the same name as your bms file..and keep the file extensions.

But...you can edit them if you want, and change them, you'll need a "Hex Editor" to do it, and, you need to alter both the DBF and the LWF, because they work together..then save them the same names as your bms file.

If you don't know what a hex editor is...well, it's to involved to tell you here..

Did you learn about base 8 (hex) numbering in school? Like we count in base 10.!!

Do a google search for "Hex Editor", you'll find info there..

Editing the .LWF and .DBF

I edit the files(.LWF & .DBF) with a hex editor and work perfect.
I use a Hex Editor Called:

Hex-editor XVI32
Copyright (c) 2003 Christian Maas - All Rights Reserved
chmaas@handshake.de
www.chmaas.handshake.de

DownLoad Here " XVI32.Zip"

XVI32 is a free hex-editor.

NOTES: You CANNOT, and DO NOT try to Edit the .DBF or .LWF with Note Pad.
If you do so, when you try to open the map with the MED, you would get a error message and the MED will Close actomatically. And when you try to load the map in the game, it will Freeze/Crash.

P.S. We don't give support about the Hex Editor, This forum support Novaligic Mission Editor, and *NOT* Hex Editor...LAC and LOL

Dialogs Demo/Test map

I have made a Demo map, that show you how to use the .LWF and .DBF Dialogs file in SP maps.
Dwnload in the link below:

-> Dialog_Test_Joselz.zip <-

The zip file include the Dialogs list that i have made up to now.
I think with this people should be able to use dialogs in their maps....Bcause is time to move on onto dialogs. LOL
In the demo map you would see that the Wac file plays Enviroment sounds, and the .LWF and .DBF plays the speech....
Loud And clear..LAC

How the hard part

When you siad how to add dialog files in your maps you didn't say what to do with them in the post above, you should have added that the files *.dbf and *.lwf files and to be added back in the localres.pff file. That part would have help a lot

The list that Joselz made in this forum and the list made by CHRISLEW200 are not sorted out. I or we would have to look up each file name to find out witch one we wanted to use. well that could take days or weeks to come up with the dialog file to use.

Any Volenteers to help sort them out

Simple really...

Lets use...

SPBHD_01 "Marka Breakdown"

Find the SPBHD_01.LWF and SPBHD_01.DBF

Make a test map called "Test_Map". Save it..close the med..

Rename the files above to Test_Map.LWF and Test_Map.DBF

Put them in your game folder.

Now, open your test map..

Place an area trigger, call it area trigger 1m and a start marker just outside the area.

Create an event...

Trigger..

when ssn 10000 in area trigger1

Action..

Play dialog ID1

When you run the map, the four dialogs listed below will all play one after the other..

Please ensure you have the /d on your game icon or this will NOT work..

dlg001......CmdA520 , Play636 ,CmdA521 , Play637

You need to have the dbf and lwf files named before you start the map..

If you don't have the files there first, then when you choose play dialog, you will get an "Undefined" error in the event.

That parts works find

I used the dialog tut on making my dialogs from the tut. by JoseLZ. every things works, its just when I play some of the dialogs I keep getting an

EX can not load audio play316. Error.

in the manual. Jose didn't say any thing about adding the files I converted and if I should add them back in the localres.pff over writing the files that are all ready in there

I was going to try that and see what happens. I just have to back up the *.wav files that I'm useing before I do that.

any ideas
