Help with Area Triggers
I canno't seem to get Area Triggers to work. I am at my whits end and need your help, here is what I have done:
I am useing dfdlgkw as a dialog file and can verify play wav file list works on other trigers.
1) I placed two area triggers. I highlighted both and set number to 1.
They are conected and have a box.
I place a player start point, set the player as Group 1 (Blue team).
I create an event:
Group 1 is within Area 1
Play wav file list 270
I placed a pickup on each corner of area to help me find it.
However when i walk in nothing hapens. If i change the event from Group is within area 1, to a group is intact, the sound will play.
Seems the Group 1 is Within Area 1 is not working and I have no idea why.
I have opened mission files created by novalogic where i know the area trigers work, and to me I am doing everything the same.
Any help is greatly apreciated.

Check the number again..Maybe you made a typo?!
Also try setting the player Start Marker as group 1, this sometimes affects the way Area Triggers work..

Quirky Events....
Try completely deleting the event and re-entering it. I have found that occasionally when you make changes to an event for some reason the event no
longer works but will work fine if the event is totally redone.

this worked for me it shouldnt matter what group you set player in its hardwired to group 1 so putting it in a group is useless
Event 0: Event 0
Reset after 10 seconds
Group 1 is within area 1
Actions:
Play wav file list 270
make sure that both triggers are set to 1 in the waypoints number box(upper right of item attributes box) and they make an orange box.
if youve done everything right and it doesnt work do what hairy sadi it should work then

This is how i do it place a start marker and then go in to groups and click the blue playersthen press ok,highlight the startmarker click on item
attributes then click group as blue players then team good blue.
Go in to area triggers then type in area 1 and choose a colour then ok.
Then place two area triggers high light them both then go in to item attributes and click the box on the right to 1 then press ok.
Ok when this is done place your start marker in the area trigger and then go in to the events section click on events name your event for
identification then click on if statements click on group so it will be if group, blue players enter area 1 then go in to then statements and for
example play wavlist - - - and hopefully this should work

Ok I have tryed a few more times and eventualy it worked. I kept checking everything, both trigers set to 1, drifernt groups for start point,
deleteing and re entering events.
Eventualy it worked when I did a new map last night, guess its quirky events like Hairy said.
I greatly apreciate the help in solveing this.

by making a new map......
this means make a new map with just enough stuff to do what you want the event to do and nothing else this will help you get a handle on the event and
when you get i to work place it in your map.
also you could just delete the event and everything related to it and start over sometimes its easier than trying to find out where your mistakes are

or you could open up two meds (or use the page 1 and 2) and cut and paste all your items from the dodgy map and paste them into the new map. You will
have to do the events again because i dont think copying and pasting the events into the new map would help. This goes for groups, waypoints etc,
you'll have to do them again.
