df2 hosting, dumping logged in players

Here is another df2 hosting promlem, when I set up a ded. server it will kick out all the players, but it may take 4 games or on the 1st. I host on my other computer and it does the same thing, one is using xp pro and the other 98se. I have cable modem and netgear router. I know its a df2 problem because and I can host on ut 2003 all night long with out a problem. A interesting note, when I log in to the server using my other machine with dffav's I dont get kicked out just everyone else, but i'm on behind the same lan. any idea's??????????

NovaLogic Support
Knowledge Base Article

PROBLEM:
I use a router to when connecting to the Internet, why can't I host or connect into the Novaworld games?

RESOLUTION:
DSL/Cable Routers (NAT being Network Address Translation devices like cable/dl routers. Some firewalls act like NAT devices too.) take the IP address given you by your ISP and split it into mutiple addresses on the subnet of your LAN.

To connect to Novaworld each computer joining MUST have its own distinct IP address. This is the address that your ISP gave you and not the one on the subnet of the router.

If you are hosting a game from behind a router you will need to set the outbound port, or trigger and the incoming port the same as the firewall ports for the game.

You can play behind a NAT device. But you CAN NOT have multiple clients behind a single NAT device because of the requirement that each computer connecting must have its on distinct IP address.

You will need to contact the manufacture of the router for assistance on how to accomplish the set up. We do not supply support for the router.

trigger ports

I have a problem running my router with TFD and the router maker said to get the trigger ports and public port ranges from the game.... But how do i obtain these numbers? I know how to enter them into the router but dont know how to find them, and wether the different game servers (Nova or public) use different trigger ports?
