Trivial Posts - and polls..
OK.. I havent been around a real lot lately.. and today I had a few minutes and started browsing around..
I am finding a TON of trivial off topic threads on the forums.. mostly from the same few users..
Im sorry if this is offensive to anyone.. however.. I see these trivial posts.. such as asking for jokes.. asking for people to post thier pics.. and
posting polls on the most inane subjects to be useless and annoying .. and furthermore I think it drives up the signal to noise ratio on the forums
and makes it harder for people to find the information they came here for to begin with.
Now im not unreasonable.. and once in a while - an off topic post by some member doesnt bother me.. I mean there is more to life than DF.. however..
when the same few members post useless crap over and over and over.. it starts being bothersome.. and I have a tendency to remove bothersome things. .
So.. stop with these ridiculouos posts people.. or perhaps you may find yourself looking for another site to become a pest on.. because you will be
banned from this one..
(FYI - this is targeted at a very small subset of our member base that cant seem to determine whats worth posting - and is not meant to be a rant
against all posts that are off topic - only the recent 'sprees' of posts by several fairly new members)

Cool m8
Another thing thats often a bit of a hassle is ppl who post
Help or some other non discriptive subject tiltle...
this is also a cause of repeat posts as it is more difficult for ppl to quickly browse to get answers...

I would like to apologize
I think I myself started the subject of wasted posts... and then I myself threw in a "joke" when some guy asked for one.... I will watch it from now
on and promise to "practice what I preach."

Ridiculous
Yea... I myself have been around a lot of forums. It funny how people think they can just post on and on about nothing, its also so ridiculous that
they feel the need to spam.

not enough info in subject line
as steptoe pointed out earlier there are posts out there with very little or nothing to describe the post in the subject line this is mainly just a
problem in starting a new thread. make a subject line manditory before making a new post use drop down menus like "menu 1 what u want"(help, just
needed to talk, tip,ect ect)"menu 2 what u want it for"(about/for DFLW, about/for DFBHD, about/for ______[place subject here], ect,ect.)
these are lame examples but you get my point it would also make the search for subjects a little easier.
in BHD forums and BHD mapmakers forum there are 8000+ posts and 1600+ subjects im sure alot of new posts questions have already been answered in
these posts but the subject line dont contain enough information about the subject

I agree
Yes usless posts do take up time when you add up the total time sorting all useless posts out that time could have been better spent .

Agreed 110%.....
I often have tried using the "search" on site and can find nothing to answer my questions due to silly "subject" lines. It's like a guessing game...
LOL Thanks to all the barracks people for everything you do ..... and I plan to copy/paste your recent message for help in my forum. I am hoping the
turn-out is good. Best of luck and our thoughts will be with you.

Useless Topic Lines
Yes, I know that you moderators are always very busy(not really sure...im not a moderator, wouldnt mind being one though)and I was wondering...if you
guys could change the topic if someone has their new thread topic as "help", maybe if you had time, you could read the first post and see what he is
asking and change the thread topic.
I think this would save a lot of time and hassle in the search process...
What do you guys/gals think?

well im formerly stealth~~scca so u know i dont take Bull**** from ppl or squad members but to get to the point DFB needs more moderators on the
forums cos ive read posts off quite a few moderators and they always seem to be busy (A HELL OF ALOT) i know this as i used to moderate for df-hq
(gave it up cos they just kept spammin and flamin ppl lol) so A Bullet give warnings to the spammers (quite alot of em but they never get warned from
what i c) get more moderaters and as flamedf said edit the topic name to suit the thread only puttin in my 2 cents cyas around i wouldnt mind been a
member of the dfb df2 mapmakers BUT AS IT SEEMS 5 months on next thursday and 10 emails later NO REPLY which is annoyin

to add to my reply above about the drop down menus
in dflw mapomaking forum
dropdown menu 1: example selection(help with dflw mapmaking)
dropdown menu 2: example selection(moving vehicles)
this would make it better descriptive than just "help, trucks, problem with choppers" ect.
and once the menus have been selected it would work like a search it would search 4 related topics b4 u could post

Lol Sharon Ive been watching your 'Recruitment' thread - its turned into a hangman game lol. This is the kind of thing that the Admin are talking
about. I know that the original thread had the intention of recruitment but look what happened :D Try not to... encourage it?

There is nothing wrong with Sharons thread!. Just a bit of fun for all to have and thats, what we are here for a bit of fun. Eagle_Eye and I have
been monitoring Sharons thread and we elected to leave it. If it spreads then we would consider corrective action.

Nothing wrong with the thread? I think a game of hangman is quite trivial on a DF resource site... but if the mighty admins are happy I cant complain
:D

Most of the "Other" sites have a section for jokes and other crap, so, Ice and I had a chat, and decided we would leave this here for now...just to
see how it develops...Yes, it's trivial...
You know I'm all for being "Down to Business", I just think we might need to have a bit of fun on the side sometimes..
