thank you for any help.

yes I think I can.

If ssnarea(#,#) and never() then
wave("expl_large.wav",500)
quake(3)
endif

that may work if you can get it to coinside with a killssn event in the event box...

Hi, I haven't made any maps for months (nothing since attack on military base) and I just came back to BHD after much frustration with the unreal editor. I have been reading this WAC thread and I think I got it. I remember Chrislew said I should use WACs in my map so here I am ;) Zulu's right though, a lot is left unexplained, it sort of assumes you know how to make your own WAC files and how to have it work with the mission editor. Still, very helpful. Now to go make some maps :D

- I work for an hour, then all of a sudden system dumps start. Can't figure out what's wrong...Pfffffffffffffffffff....

"Very disapointed with the first thing, put some more info on what the heck the AMMO_BULLET is... Ansoni and other "Master" WACer's this is'nt your best work... If posible can you please reliterate it so some people that are trying to learn WAC can undersand it.... Please........ Sorry for being harsh"

ok i have a simple answer to this question.

1) ammo_bullet is quite simply a bullet in which can be setup to hit locations in fact i think if i was good enough i could probobaly setup like 30 in one small area against a wall like the man in the matrix being shot.

2) wac = wac is pretty much self explanitory its written in pretty much plain english no coding knowledge needed but if you want a tutorial email me and if i get enough emails i will request that the short tutorial is posted in the com for downloading.

3) a better wording of your questions wouldnt go a miss.

Not really a command but interesting enough.......
As some who have posted on the board have mentioned, I had tryed several times to get the WAC file to work, checking everything very carefully.
Finally , in desperation, I did a re-install of the entire game and an update and lo and behold, my WAC worked just fine.........Just something to think about.

It is the distance that the wave file can be heard by players.

location 1 refers to the area trigger having a music (var3) setting of 1.

Music var3 setting must be a different value to the area trigger value.

WAC Problem

Hi guys.

Have read thru this thread and can't see a solution to a problem I'm having with a wac file.

It plays just fine until a certain point then stops part way thru displaying some text.

Does anyone have an idea what would cause this or can I send this file to someone to look at and troubleshoot?

The file is heavy on text and I thought that might be a problem. had a few people look at it and say that using an apostrophe would cause that problem. I fixed those but it only played a few more letters in the text string.

Someone else said it was a certain wav file (Demote.wav) so I blocked all of those with no more success.

If anyone has any ideas or could look at the file for me I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

For those interested in text in WAC files - it appears my earlier problem was caused by the number of text lines in the WAC file.

Thanks to help from the folks here, it has pretty much been determined that 43 lines of text are too many. I'm not sure yet just what the limit is, but by reducing the lines of text to 31 everything now works again.

So somewhere between 31 and 43 is too many.

Guess I should learn not to talk so much :D

I have just finished the map Durante's Last Stand (well - OK finished in that I got killed so many times I had to take a break), and was looking thru the .mis file trying to learn things when I came upon an item that caught my interest.

In the Events - Item 19 (Durante's Dialog) the trigger is the player (SSN10000) being in Area 10.

This causes the action (0) Execute Wac.

I am very interested because I had been told that this function was not useable (in the med version released to us mere mortals). I looked for a wac file this might execute but could only find the wac file associated to this map and it was already playing.

Does this command work and if so - what wac file does it play and how do you set it up?

(I have the same questions for the 'Play Dialogue' action which I have also been told does not work in the med version released to the public).

If anyone can help answer these questions I would appreciate it.

Thanks

The item is not usable to us, not to Nova..if you extract all the files from the ppf file, and sort them, you will see some other files for the SP missions. Nova doesn't use wac files for the dialog...ie

SPBHD_18.DBF
SPBHD_18.LWF

As far as I can tell, these files store the info needed to create those long strings of linked waves used in th Nova SP games. I, along with Iceman have had a bit of a hack, and changed these with a hex editor, renamed the files, and had success at using the events in a test mission. At the moment there is no conversion software for these files, so Hex ed it is...

EE

I believe Execute WAC means something like "run it now if it hasn't been loaded by a /d argument on the game's shortcut".

ie - run the game with the /d argument and you don't need to use it.

Hi - It's me again.

I was sure I had seen a thread or post somewhere that explained how to change from daylight to night using a wac file.

I've searched everywhere I could think of but can no longer find this information.

Can someone direct me to this helpful information please?

get the radio aidid wac (map6 I think from the original bhd) and hacknslash the code.

I've done a very cheap remake of it in the wac for "conquered command" (bhd map downloads here at the barracks) which will get you by, all credits due to the nova authors however.
