ERROR: You are not permitted to link to maps on our site!

This is usually caused by Norton Internet Security Firewall .. basically whats happening is this.. our site uses the HTTP_REFERER header to verify that you actually followed a link from our site to download the file.

If you are using Norton Internet Security Firewall and get this error.. you can do the following to enable your computer to allow downloads..

>> open up your norton internet security firewall software..

>> choose options..

>> choose the internet security option

>> in the dialog box that pops up choose advanced options..

>> click the add site button..

>> add dfbarracks.com

>> highlight dfbarracks in the list then choose the privacy tab

>> under browsing privacy area.. change referer to permit

>> make sure the checkbox for use these rules for dfbarracks.com is checked.

If you follow the above steps it should allow norton to allow you to pass the http referrer along to our site without compromising your security in any way.. or altering the behaviour of Norton for any other sites you use.

Norton Anti-Virus/Firewalls

Hey folks,

I get the same error message when I try to download maps, but I don't have any Norton utilities installed on my machine. Am running WinXP, on broadband (512k) thru a router, any suggestions gratefully welcome?

Ta,
Cy.

Sussed it...

Have got Zone Alarm & Visual Zone running on my machine, switched them off and now I can download. Can you update the error page to include other types of firewall? Don't think a big thing is needed, just a pointer that other firewalls could stop people downloading. Cheers...

Cos no 1 will tell you unless i do

All fierwalls stop referes,
Some will alow individual sites to send referes if you permit that site.
Most will requier you to set referers to allow,
in other words,
some people will either haft to turn off there fire wall (whilst dowloading files)
or permit all refering services for the whole internet as it cannot be alocated only for 1 site

D/L problems...

I just got DSL last week and all of a sudden I was having D/L problems as well. My DSL is through Verizon and uses the MSN browser. Well I just figured out that I can't D/L through the MSN browser but I can D/L just fine if I turn on IE even though I have the standard XP firewall installed on my DSL connection.
