help with tiles


i'm using a flat surface terrain, but now i wan't the whole map to be in water, but i can't seem to find the tile set for the water tile, can someone help plz? i'm tile set number is it and withen that tileset, which char tile number is it?

There isn't a tile set for under water. you'll just need to look through the sets and find one that suits your needs.

Or are you trying to add water to a map?

I'm moving this thread to BHD map makers section.

Add Water


Go to the General Information section... Upper right... check water and add a depth. Probably 30 will cover the flat terrain with water... you may have to experiment.

hm........ i did wat u told me to do davesnow and there is water but i still got this lil problem, i checked the water and depth thing, i put 30 for the depth like u said, when i went to test it, there was no water, so i put -30, and there was water, but no top, at least how far i could swim before i ran out of breath, then i tried -1, same thing happened, when i tried 1, no water, am i doing something wrong here? or is it how i placed my objects?

Once you have water higher than the surface the whole MED with turn blue. Try starting at 45 and working your way down or up.

ok, heres how it is right now, i have a map, you know the wooden bridges? well i put em around, i put them so the very bottom of them is touching the ground, so they are as high as possible, without floating, on ground, and now i want the area under them to be in water, i've tried 30 for my depth, the map turned blue, but when i got in, i was completly underwater, i couldn't even swim up to the top before drowning, i tried the depth as 1, same thing, do i use the med that comes with the bhd installment, or the med_h from here?

Ok, exactly which wooden bridge are you talking about? The one under decorations which is the large destructable bride? or one that is in the buildings that is titled "wooden river bridge" if you are using the large destructable bridge about 40 or 42 should be high enough. If you are using the river bridge and you have it raises all the way(which is pretty high) you would probly need about 50 for the water depth. Let me know.

i'm using the wooden river bridge and i raised it for the Z part 12 so that the very bottom of its support legs are on the ground rather then through the ground

time for a lesson


i think you might need a basic example of how the water setting works.. instead of just telling you which number to use, how bout we show you how to figure it out yourself?

first, let's start with the way it is measured. instead of being in whole meters, it's measured in half meters. so a water height of 30 is actually 15 meters, and 60 is 30.. get it?

now on how it relates to your terrain. we'll use flat terrain to make it easier... when you place an object on flat terrain, you should by default get a z level of 0. that means that the object is flush with the surface of the terrain. if you look under the z height, you should see another measurement called az, or absolute z. that is how high the item is in regards to total allowable space. in order to allow for tunnels, the terrain is raised up from the base a bit.

now let's put an object in water... first place your object exactly where you want it to be. once your height is where you want it, look at the az value. let's say it's az value is 80. in order to get water up to where it is, you just need to double that number (remember above?)

go to your general info screen and input your doubled az value - 160. when you go back into your map, the water line should be right at the object you placed.
if you need to adjust it, you can raise/lower the water by 1/2 meter by simply increasing/decreasing the water number by one.
