how do i make my own maps for dflw

It's far to complicated to go into detail here I think, but you should first go to your program files and search for Novalogic and then Delta Force
Land Warrior and then locate the DFLW Mission Editor Manual. This will have most of the basic information you will need to do it. My suggestion is to
print it so you have it for easy reference and to study. Then give it a try. You'll likely have a lot of questions after you actually start.

Like Gila said, there is a sample mission file there as well, we all started map making by using this map and the manual. It takes time, you need to
spend ages just playing around till you get the hang of it. "Rome was not built in a day"

Not all of us found the manual lol
But it realy is straight forward enough i only had 1 problem...
i didnt find item atributes for about 5 months 
I recon best way to learn is to just try

what to do if the dflw editor doesnt work! it says it cant open it becuase of a error is there still hope?
