I had the same problem, but I finally sorted it yesterday. Download DFFavs if you haven't already got it, and then where it says ADD...type in the IP
of the computer that you are hosting on.....in my case the IP is 192.168.2.2 OK it and then join your server via DFFavs. Hope it works for you.

The key is to use the internal IP address rather than picking the page off of nova world or favorites world.
To find out IP:
95/98/ME
Click Start
Click Run
Type "winipcfg" without the quotes
Click Run
NT/2000/XP
Click Start
Click Run
Type "cmd" without the quotes
Click Run
Type "ipconfig" without the quotes
Press the enter key
Hosting and playing
If you want to host on one server and play on another or you want both to be able to join the same server out on the net then you need to make at
least one more tweak. Open your DF2.CFG on one of the machines and change the mp_gameport = 0 to have some other value (for example,
3569). This should fix you up for all gaming options.

STILL NO JOY I TRIED CHANGING THE MP-PORT IN THE DF-CNFG TO 3569 NO HELP, I ALSO TIRED USING DF FAV'S AND USE THE HOSTING MACHINES IP, IT SHOWS UP AS
NOT ACTIVE. I CAN USE THE SERVE AND PLAY OPTION AND HOST ON NOVA, BUT I WANT TO USE THE OTHER COMP. AS A SERVE ONLY, AND PLAY USING THE OTHER COMP.
ANY MORE IDEA'S WOULD BE GREAT!

Have you enabled DMZ on the machine you are hosting from? I also tried changing the MP-Port, but that never worked for me so I had to put it back to

Ummm basically I think your problem should be fixable using the modification of the mp_gameport.. however bear in mind.. that that is not the ONLY
thing you must do to get this working..
the following thread explains how to modify your mp_gameport

a. bullett, thanks i did see that other post and tried that before posting here and it did not work. I am not a complete looser with computers, but i
am fairly new to the networking game. i set my home network and router with no problems. i know this can be done. i can set up a server only machine
and play on the lan just fine. and i can host and play on nova and it works also. i have opened up ports 3568 and 3569 on my router and disabled most
of the filters. i have tried the df fav's and using the ip to hook up and it also does not work but when type the game ip/port it does not like my
format. So im not sure what its looking for. I will keep playing with it , all the help has been great , any more idea's?

Go to your Routers login page, then somewhere in the setup you should have an option to enable DMZ, to the PC you are hosting from. I don't know to
much about routers, but ticking the DMZ LOL rather than forwarding individual ports work fine for me. Just un-check the box after you have finished
hosting. Sorry if that's not much help. But the tech talk is beyond me. LOL. Then try adding the IP Addy of the host PC into DF2Favs. I have no
trouble of getting into my hosted game that way. Infact it's the only way I've found so far that works for me. Your other option is to post on the
Forum of your router manufactuer.
