I'm looking into SBC Yahoo. For those SBC users out there, what plan are you using? Basic or Standard Plus?
I don't know which is better, and I'm not sure if the cost is worth an extra $10.

what kind of upload/download are we talkin --- I pay 39.95 a mo -- in Bay Area,Ca .. and my upload has been clocked at 134(pkg says 128) and 1.2mbs
down(1.5 is pitched) --- unfortunately dsl is all that is offered where i live --- so an answer to your question --- depends on what they offer you in
you area --- that's the kicker

Well, I have been using a free trial of DSL vs. my existing cable and the uploads are about equal...around 300.
Downloads, however, are around 1000 for DSL. Cable floats between 1200-2000 depending on the number of users online in the neighborhood....
With DSL you'll get pretty standard upload/download speeds, whereas it can vary with cable. With games like DF2 you probably don't have to adjust
your lead time as much with DSL, where with cable your speed can jump all over the place during a game.
I also wanted to compare the ping rates between the two. Even though DSL was slower, I managed to get lower pings on quite a few servers. The pipe
to the internet that your provider has also makes a difference.
It can't hurt to try them both out and check the results.

YES --- the new software is C#$@ i was using the software before the merger .. then upgraded to the "SBC-yahoo" brand ... Now I'm no pro -- but i
ain't no n00b either when it comes to messin with this infernal machine we all love (to hate) ... but it dropped everything --- and screwed up my home
network --- so uninstalled and re-installed the old software --- wich to be honest --- is nothing more then basic config type stuff -- because as we
all know -- if u on win XP it has most what you need --- so what I'm tryin to say is .. if you're using more than one pc online --- be leary of that
self setup garbage ... it does some funky stuff -- windows is buggy enough --- :D

YOU ALL SUCK!! I live out in the sticks, and cant get anything! My only option was to get Wireless DSL. I pay $60/month for a 256/256k line and I'm
thankfull for it. I download about 30k/sec, but its better than dialup. I usually get pings averaging around 60 so I can eaisly compete in a DF room
with anyone on DSL/Cable. Plus, I have a small local WISP so my pings are always really good. Yall complain to much, I would kill to have 768/128k
DSL, much less, cable! So when yall sit around and complain "oh woah is me, my 1.5megabit DSL is only working at 800k" Just remember, there are always
those dialup players, us high-paying Wireless users, and those sattelite players with a 1200 ping that cant play at all.

depending on your location...Say if your livcing on top of your neighborhood MUX or underneath your CO and depending on the local offerings fo your
telco you will probably find that cable has more to offer in content and price.
If you have to spend a fortune on a sat hook up it sucks to be you! :P
Really though I understand as I live in Montana and it is very hard to get any sort of broadband at all

A FEW MORE TEST SITES......
Speed tests will vary, usually the farther away the less speed(no matter what your conn.) here are a few more very reliable 'speed test sites 4 ya'll
http://www.rrhighspeed.com North Carolina based & http://www.pcpitstop.com <--- this one is also a very good site for testing your rig, and compiling the info 4 ya, it will tell you everything
about your com, all hardware applications, as well as most of the important software installations ie: operating system problems, antivirus,etc....
You can sign up for a free acct , and it stores all of the info 4 ya, so you may return later and do comparisons. And on the topic of which is better,
well i have used cable 4 about 2 yrs now, (dsl prior, and 56k before that) By far cable is the most dependable i have seen yet. But , this also
depends on the 'cable company' <<<----- as well as how many peeps they have in 1 'trunk'. My particular cable company only allows 100 people per
trunk, (this is in my area) others may have different standards. I have quite good game ping, and awsome browser speed. Mind you my rig could stand to
be upgraded, but it'll have to do 4 now. Hope this helps. D'LOCK
