LAN trouble

I am trying to host a COOP game for LAN so that I can play with my father, I am having some trouble because when I start the game and he tries to join it says there is an installation error... :( We only have one copy of the game so does it matter that we have the sam Product Key???

That sounds more like a fire wall, port forward issue. You still need to port forward the game to the server and have a stadic ip on the machines for lan also.

How ever to play lan games each pc needs it's own key. or you will receive another error message.

It won't be a port forward issue over the Lan..because the information is on the PC side of the modem..

Just buy a second copy of the game. It is about 10$. After installing it on the 2nd pc with the bought 2nd key it should work.
Btw: Then you are able to play online at Novaworld with both computers.

Indeed it is possible to host (serve, NOT serve and play) with 1 pc at Novaworld and play on it with a second pc with only one account. And it is possible to join other servers with the 2nd pc while the 1st one is hosting.
But the problem here was playing with two people/computers with just one copy/key.

I just installed this on my wifes PC, with my product Key (the one on my PC), same error..so you can't use the same key on 2 PC's...

I uninstalled, then reinstalled with my other key, and it works OK..

When doing a serve only, you can serve up to 3 games with the one login, and still be able to login and join..

This is also why it's a good reason to never to purchase a pre-owned (legit) copy of a game via eBay, Amazon, etc. From what I understand, is that once the CD Key has been registered, then you'll need to obtain a new 'valid' key in order to play the game successfully.

Combat!, a one-hour WWII drama series on television, followed a frontline American infantry squad as they battled their way across Europe. With mud-splattered realism, the show offered character studies of men striving to maintain their own humanity in the midst of a world torn by war.

I bought two copies and the addons at Ebay ("never played online, never registered") and of course the keys where registered.
If the former owner does not play the game for about three months, his account is deleted and the keys are valid for creating a new account. If he does, you have more than a "3 month" problem. ;-)

You could still play a lan game with these keys, cos you don't log in to play lan..unlike DFX, where you do..
