My blackhawk only takes off in SP but not COOP

Hi all,

I was reading the heloride2 tutorial for DF2 that I downloaded from this site and when I try to make my own map the helo doesn't take off when hosting the game as coop. It does take off however when I test the map single player from the quick missions screen. The map is very basic with only a start player marker and a blackhawk heli together with a list of 3 waypoints. The event is set as follows:
action:redirect group3(heli) to waypoint list 1
and group 3 velocity is set to 50. Deadeasy but in coop it doesn't work. The helo just sits there and doesn't start up.
coop is checked in the general info screen. When I deselect it and check team DM instead and test the map, it does work but then I spawn far away from the start player marker.

Anyone with a solution?

Thanks

What's the trigger, if there isn't one, then it should start when the mission starts..

Don't forget, in coop, some events take a lot longer to trigger/start..

omg, you're right, in coop it takes exactly one minute before the heli startsup and then it takes off while in other game types it's almost immediately!
I feel like there is sooooooo much more to learn and that I have to bug people with basic questions. I discover new things all the time. For instance, in the med there's a checkbox that's called characters and if I click it I don't know what it does except that the color map seems sharper. Just a detail though but I'm a curious person:P

Thanks for your help Eagle_Eye. I've seen lots of posts of you around here so you must be a die hard veteran out here, lol.

That checkbox turns on/off the detailed color map inside the MED. You won't see it unless you've zoomed in a bit.

All I can see is that it changes to a more detailed resolution and that pixels look smaller so is that the only difference then?

Yes, the detailed color map also includes railroad track, concrete platforms etc... However, it's only a visual difference inside the MED... it doesn't affect the maps you're making.

Oooh I see, thanks... I'll test it later as soon as I figured out how to put on railroad tracks and concrete, lmao.

No Probs, I'm here to help..been around a long time, but Q-dad has a lot more experience with DF2 than I do..

Don't give up the ship, and keep on playing with different events etc..you'll be amazed at whay you learn by stuffing around with test maps..

Those are part of the terrain files, though, and not something you add when making maps. If you're going to try making terrains, there should be some tutorials available in the Terrain making forum.

Swallowing, belch, burp, fart, make terrains?*:o%$? lol, I'll be very happy already if I can manage to make coop maps and secondly have the character to finish making them before getting bored. But thanks for the info though. I'll consider terrain making when I'm retired, sitting in a wheelchair with only my fingers that still move to operate my mouse and keyboard, lool.

The frustrating business of DF2 map making might easily get you there faster than you think, at least mentally... ;)
