This board is closed. due to a lame community that i have helped over 8 years time and got nothing in return but headaches and harasment. this board is down... for all those that said f*** you to me that i have helped here you go i hope your happy.... i am done good day and good ridance..

The owners of any site have got the right to close it down whenever they feel like it. The huge amount of hours of hard work provided by its members should not be counted upon being of any concern to the owners.

The owners also have the option to make their site read-only for a certain period of time before closing it for good, but this option was neglected in this case, obviously due to some sort of need for punishing all of the members there. Almost 3 years of modding documents gone in less amount of time than it takes to spell 3di.

Moral: If you don't own the site, don't put any huge effort into contributing to it. You'll only regret it the day the owner goes ballistic or is not personally interested anymore, or both. At least try to pick sites where you'd suspect that the owner feels a minimum amount of responsibility for preserving historical records produced by the community.

For the record, who owns DFB and DFA...? I thought they also were TerraNova related and had some of the same owners...? Any danger of these forums getting closed as well...?

Well, as long as AB is willing to pay for the site.....

At the end, DFB has been sold once, if AB gets tired of it, he can sold it too....but, who knows what then....
I like the ABs tyrany...lol

Well, Q, I'm a bit peeved as well..

As far as I know, Major Headache owns the following domains names..

dfbarracks.com
dfarena.com
dfworld.com
terranova-exp.com

The mod depot was a forum setup in a subdomain..

mods.terranova-exp.com

Although AB has owership of this site, he still doesn't own the actual domain name, which is a pity..

(Correct this is you want AB, or remove this if you want)

Seems all the posts at the mod depot have actually been deleted, not just turned off..

Seems we have all been wasting our time, I do have some of those pages saved however, I just need to locate them..

I hope whoever did this has kept a backup, cos it seems ashame to loose so much info..

I also keep a lot of pages from DFB saved as well, just in case...!!

Yup, it's a shame, and I can't understand the people who would accept such behavior and simply keep on posting at the MOD Depot, just as if nothing has happened... LoA has deleted our modding history, for Gods sake, and he doesn't seem like caring at all, but wishes everybody a happy new year, lol... And he hs kept the 2000+ member base, as if all of those are interested in modding CoD2, lol...

I know that a lot of time, work and investment had been made into that site, one that I also enjoyed and made friends from.

I have also been reading a lot lately about a bunch of things going on between groups of people and individuals.

While it is sad to see such a site with all of the above disappear into the fog of anger, it is understandable if you understand what was going on prior to it happening.

I do not even know the full story, and I won't attempt to tell you either, because then things might get blown out of proportion and then things will only get worse.

So, I will leave it with this... How many times can someone be shat on, work stolen, had helped many of modders, given out work for free and much more without even a solitary thank you, then have people you've helped stab you in the back?

I am also very saddened by the events and the closing of the site, now moved to COD, because now I really don't have a resource other than hitting people up that I know mod.

Today is a sad day, and no one particular person is to blame, but the entire community that has used that as a resource.

I do understand why everyone is angry about it, and you should be, but look not to the person who closed it, but to those that caused it's closing.

Sincerely,

So, the actions of a few people should make 2000+ members accept such behavior of the site owner...? Not likely... Btw - here's a quote from your "regretting and saddening"" post from the new MOD Depot forums...:

Quote:
Ah... time for a lady to grace the forums...

Definitely a clean house! Nice... nice... not bad... *grabs the white glove* You didn't miss a thing!

I know and understand why it is this way and I support LOA in his decision 100%.

The absolute best of luck to this site.

If I ever get COD, I know where to come, because it will have the most experienced modders I know of.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with what I posted... It was lighthearted, and I wished the site the best of luck.

Those that I've talked to know that I am saddened by the events, and those are the most important people to know how I feel.

So, go ahead and try and make a fool out of me as you wish, but remember, you do not know everything either.

**EDIT** Q-dad~TAG, you are exhibiting the exact behaviour that closed the site to begin with. So, you only have yourself to look at as part of the cause.

In other words... you could've stood up for LOA and all the crap, but you turned you back on him.

An old American saying... It only takes 1 rotten apple to ruin them all.

Ok, I'm sry about bringing your post forward as an example in this mess... What I'm trying to get across to you & others, is that by posting innocently in his new CoD2 forums now, without a single hint of regret or critique towards him about what he's done, you're making it seem OK that he has just wiped out our complete common NOVA modding history from 3 years back... How sympathetic is that...? I don't give a dang about telling it straight out what I think of him... How come most others are so gullable...?

No.... Go ask him politely for it then start a NEW forum with all that. He should want to do this... Why would he care if you start a new site with all that preisious INFO ? I would do it myself for info and to help others, but i dont know him very good so....

Well, then maybe you can understand that 2000+ members cannot talk to him every day, and that some of us, rightfully, will turn to the forums to state our opinions... You're of course free to not do that...

How would I know...? Most of the crap can't have been visible in the forums, since I've read every single post in there since the site started... so if you know all of the crap which has been going on, you must have gotten it from PMs or by other means. I didn't see any posts by you either supporting him against any crap, so I don't know what you're getting at...

One lighthearted post is nowhere near enough to judge the full situation nor give enough feedback to assume what it is that I was thinking at the time of my post.

You should know by now that I am upset how LOA is being treated, the causes of the site being shutdown, and that I am saddened to see so much gone.

Yes, I am upset.

**EDIT** Because I talk to people, that's how I know. Talk to someone long enough, you get a fuller picture of everything that's going on and what they are going through.

If you want to be angry at someone, how about looking to those people that caused the site to close intead of the person who closed it.

You steal enough items from the store over a period of time, that business loses money, so much money that it has to close the doors.

Same applies to what happened today.

i understand the loss of alot of work is an aggrivating experiance... but is it really worth all the fustration of arguing about somthing that cannot be solved in this forums?

i suggest that whoever is interested in getting back that info try and set somthing up with the owner of that forums to get the info needed...

its very simple... and it seems to me that its being complicated way out of proportion... remember you did that work on your time and wearnt getting paid... the maps that i've made wearnt made so i could get a pat on the back or a congrats (they are nice but i dont expect them)... i made them so that i could play those maps... just like i've seen from some of the mods out... the makers of the mods made them because they wanted to play with them... dont expect everyone to give you congrats on making somthing good... and dont expect no-one to steal your work, because theres plenty of people out there that are so deprived of natural contact that they will seek out any attention they can and if they've got to step on a few toes to get it they will...

i however would like to thank anyone and everyone who's every made a mod or anything having to do with nova games (beside cheats)... they've done nothing less than give a better experiance when playing (for the most part) and made different aspects of working inside the game files better and easyer... so thankyou for all your hard work and please dont forget that its you that desides to do that work... no-one makes you do it...

OK, I've just spent some time with LoA on ICQ..

I know I haven't been active at The Mod Depot, but I do know this..

LoA IS Terranova, without his driving force, Terranova just doesn't Exist..

He was condemned for releasing the Official Nova Jo Tools to the community, something that I patted him on the back for in another post at DFB..

If People can't accept the fact, that we all need the same tools, that we are all part of a great community, then I say Stuff them..

To all those who don't Support LoA at this time, I say Stuff You as well..

LoA has given his all for the community, he doesn't deserve the crap that he has been given..

I support the closure of The Mod Depot.

Don't dispare, all the forums are in a backup file.

So, to all modders who have ever used any tool form LoA, or taken any advise, and who don't support him at this time, you don't deserve to be a part of Terranova's Mod Depot Forums, or any modding community for that Matter..

What's wrong..you afraid someone will make a better mod now we all have these tools..get a life people..

btw, I'll be adding the tools to the download section here, and at DFReload..
