ping
can anybody help me i don't know why, but i always get punted from a server i see that my ping is jumpin from 40 to 280 and i don't know what i can do
to stop that, does anybody have any advice.

High ping would cause lag in the game.
Being punted can be caused by a few other issues...
Your game not having the latest update patch...
A game modification may be missing if the server is running mods.
Using copied/unregistered software can also get you punted and banned from Novalogic severs.
These are just a few of many issues that can arise...
Would need a lot more information to give you a specific answer...

I am running the latest version. in regular bhdts no mods. not in nova server but in hosted. and is game is registered to me. i have been able to
play in servers just fine up till about 4 days ago. my computer is a little old bout 5 years old. could my system be causing it.
runnin windows xp
intel celeron 1300 mhz
1.29 ghz
512 mbs ram
64mb nvidia video card.
don't know if that would help in the determination of my problem but thought i would include it.

I don't think its your system..thou your video card maybe a bit slow/old, but if you were running ok before.
Windows XP itself has a minimum requirement of 512 meg ram and adding new software may have the computer struggling a bit......Wouldn't harm to add
more ram...
It could be a server fault or processes running in the background on your computer....
Try closing some of the processes running on your computer...IE virus checker, spy-ware checker etc..
Have you made any changes to your computer over the last few days....Add new software etc...

no, i haven't added anything but some new maps, and i have never had this problem b4, i usually get rid of the old maps that i don't play anymore when
i get download new maps. it is probably my system is is kinda old been meanin to upgrade or get a new system. any suggestions.

Your system is fine for BHD, it is just not good enough for new games hehe, but BHD isnt a new game.
Same servers you visit?
Check the packet loss of your connection.
But as always when I see these kind of posts I always remember BOVA!
