where can you set how long the rope decends?

Do a small test map, set up an event for the rope to decend, set the fast rope helo as hovering and set up the z as 20..now test the map, look at the
bottom of the rope..you can see that when the rope ends, it doesn't really end..it changes from a rope, to a strap like thing. That strap seems to let
down to the ground at any height, but it's not always visible..it's a bit buggy..
You can to another test and alter the rope length and see the results..
Nothing like testing things for yourself..

erm.. yea.. i lowerd teh z of the helo, but it wont lower. but thats ok, cuz i still got my guys to let go of the rope. i did a delay 6 seconds and
release of the rope. thanks a lot though

can you please tell me why my helicopter's height wont lower wen i use med_h??? I keep lowering it buts its still to high. its looks awkward with my
soldier dropping from a room 30 feet off teh ground :o thanks.

You shouldn't be using Med h or I with 1.5.0.5 ...it doesn't work properly with this update..check the map makers stivky..right tools for the job..
download the unlocked med 2.05c..
The helo may be taking it's height from the waypoint it's set at, adjust the height of the waypoint..

For those thinking of doing it in reverse - IT WORKS!
Using some imagination you can now have AI's picked up by fast rope as well.
If (for example) the AI's have completed their portion of the mission and are waiting for pick-up, you can have the Helicopter hover over top of them
('Z' value set to 20), lower the rope, attach the AI - Raise the rope (simulating a winch retraction), then repeat as necessary.
It requiers accurate positioning of the helicopter and a Teleport though. Once the AI and rope reach the top (the helicopter) you must detach the AI
from the rope 'change ai status find and use ssn0) - then teleport him into the helicopter. Otherwise he'll just ride the rope as many times as it
goes up or down. Teleport is needed to get him inside the helicopter.
Then once the AI's have been picked up - the helicopter can be sent on it's way.
Just a thought if you're tired of all those convoy pickups or in thick jungle and need to get AI's (or hostages) out by helicopter.

My pleasure - I have it in my map that you took a look at for me. The one that keeps crapping out and is now on hold while I get a few other things
done.
Regular soldiers look OK when they go up the rope however if you used the downed pilot figure it looks like they are trying to touch their toes to
their nose or something.
Quite funny actually.

i dun like fast rope i just place tele mark on ground under heli so its all fast n stuff
but i try to do it and i guess my ssn is t3h messed so like ill brb after i find what is wrong

I Always use the Fast roping and i llike it.But sometimes i got problems with it like: lets say i got 4 rangers.The 3 of them rope perfectly but the
last one releases the rope when he is on half of it.

If the fourth person on the rope is 'jumping' off before reaching the end it can only be one of two things;
1. Timing for the fourth person needs to be increased before he is given the release command, or
2. If he is part of a group and the group is being sent to another waypoint list or someplace else, before he finishes descending the rope.
I've had as many as 7 rescued people, 2 security team members and 1 medic (10 in all) - use the rope one after the other with no trouble.

What if you want to use fast roping for multiplayer team deathmatch?
will it still work?
like starting out on the heli and then fast rope down to the ground.

Players have no way to attach to the rope that I am aware of.
I suppose you could simulate it with some very careful positioning of the helicopter and an invisible ladder that is available in the med.
