Is "Irene" actually "I (don't) Reign" ?

OK now that i have completed the Shore Patrol mission, i had Irene to tackle with. As soon as it started, the command boss starts yelling "Irene, Irene ..." maybe it has to do something with "I Reign"

Well, i was reminded of the movie "Black Hawk Down", but something is GROSSLY wrong here - my little bird gets shot by RPGs 9 out of 10 times before it reaches where i have to land, and RARELY when i do reach the rooftop, and the chopper comes to a still, I CAN'T get down, either by a fast rope, or by any other means , as i REMAIN strapped by the seat belt. About 3 seconds later an RPG blows my bits away.

What the heck is going on ? How can i get down ? The command boss says in the intro - "Anyone who does not drop their guns is a target" - what the .... ??? In the movie, there was nothing of such sort - the black hawks safely landed the delta team, and only when the last fast rope was being done, did one RPG hit one of the choppers, and about 10 minutes later another black hawk was down. There were NO little birds !

Your so confused its unbelevable. IRENE is the mission code name. When the commader is yelling "irene irene" thats the go-code. Your supposed to shoot the RPG guys on the ground...wait a little while for the ropers to get down and then its your turn... the movie mainly focuses on whats happens in the black hawks there for dosent show anything with the little birds. Anyone who dosent drop their guns is a target was in the film. Mabey you should watch it again a follow carefully.

Well i am was just joking if it was Irene or I reign , I know what it is actually. I was not confused as you might think i am. BTW, i still haven't been able to land even once, or for that matter, even hover the little bird at the spot so that i could take an aim, What i get is a RPG stricking the bird BEFORE i can get even a half-chance to aim and shoot even a single RPG guy.

I downloaded the SP map of Irene v 1.5 by Daskal and i found it to be far more realistic and playable. At least it gives you the opportunity to land down and take out some enemies. It's is another matter, that i left the mission halfway becuase of the big lag it was generating on my P4, 1.6GHz, 128MB ram, 32 MB S-3 video card.

Is there any other 'playable' irene map submitted by any other user which is not too much hard on my framerate

If you are having that much trouble, try lowering the difficulty.

No, Black Hawk Down showed both Black Hawks and Little Birds plus the movie isn't all that accurate.

Basically Strategist when you begin your descend into the city immediately watch the ground below you. Shoot anyone with a weapon especially the RPGs, as you near the target building you should see 3 guys, one with an RPG and Two with AK's kill them quickly before you hover and cover the chalk.

Plus i dont think he's having difficulty at all it's his framerate try putting everything to the low position.

Heres your prob, your pc barely meets the requirement to even play the game...That's why your laggin. A 32 meg card??? You need to catch up to the times, man.

The movie "BLACKHAWK DOWN" is more accurate than the game cuz i didnt hear lucy on the movie as attack code i heard 2 mins then 1 min then 30 secs but not LUCY LUCY LUCY! but they had to do something i guess.Nore i know because i watched a docukmentry of rangers and delta that were there and said BHD the movie was really accurate but i the game wasnt as accurate but it was still great though the TB wasnt accurate neither but it maybe other way around i dunno but and irean wasnt as accurate neither 3 went on ground 1 on roof in movie in game 2 on ground and 2 on roof o well thats all i dont like but all in all its an great game though

neither the movie or the book are accurate. all four LBs landed on the ground infront of the target buildings. The operatives went in, got the tier 1s, then their was confusion about whether the operatives were to go outside and wait for the convoy, or whether the convoy was suppose to pull up first. That caused a ten minute wait, and was the start of the screw up. Sit through the movie with my dad and ask him to point things out, you'll hear "thats BS", or "they merged two people for that character", and even "that guy was never actually on the ground" every minute of two

Back on track, your computer needs serious upgrading :o

As timber said neither movie or game is accurate but hell its Hollywood and California where all the dreams come true, don't get me wrong there are films that depict the real events to a point.

The book and documentary Black Hawk Down: The Real story (in which they interviewed 6 Rangers, 4 SF and the author along with a few re-enactments) are much better sources of information.

There's no doubt about it, this IS a tough mission. I played it many, many, MANY times before I got through it. Just keep trying, you'll get it eventually. :)

But... I have bad news for you. Once you get past this mission, there are several more that are equally tough. :)

And don't even get me started on the Team Sabre missions!

What OS are you running Stratigist? I had that problem when I first purchased BHD. I had Windows 98 SE with a 1.5 Ghz processor and 512 mb PC133 RAM and FRs were terrible to the point I put the game on the shelf and didn't try it again until I installed Windows XP. After that I reinstalled it with XP and it ran acceptably well. After adding another 512 mb RAM it wasn't bad at all.

In the mission you are talking about shoot the guy on the bridge with an RPG just as you enter the city. That's the one that always got me.
