Well?

There's barely any talk about this new Nova game? What gives?

Anyways, the important question: what's the verdict on this game? According to the press release, it came out today in the US. Some of you must have got it today.

Is this BHD/JOps rehash, or is it back to old school Delta Force? I want to know if this is worth buying:P

Yeah I got it today, Ive only been playing single player the basic rundown is this...if you are a hard core delta forcer than this is for you...its basically delta force 1 and 2 with 2005 level graphics. However they do add some elements of the delta force black hawk down...such as ability to lean...correct me as I never had tfd or lw.

Pro's:

AI is smarter

Better looking graphics and more detail.

Ability to use vehicles as support.

If you die, you dont have to restart the mission.

Cons:

Limited choice of weapons

Poor sniping tactics...doesnt give u option to zoom in...at least in single player

Seems more geared for the "kids" the new wave of next and newer generation df players.

Seems to be only 3 campagins...and no like special different instant action where there was a lot of missions..in df2.

To tell you the truth...I dont think Delta Force Xtreme...is that Xtreme...Novalogic once again...had a good idea but stumbled on it again. This is a basic rehash of DF1 and DF2, however I believe Novalogic made this seriously because they ran out of ideas. I would much rather play DFBHD / TS even though they dont have the smart AI, but they had a decent amount of weapons....here the weapons are extremely limited.

I surely hope that novalogic would produce more weapons and content...to up this game up a better grade...such as an expansion pack...concept is okay enough to sell...but quantity of items in delta force is not enough.

I would give it an average C rating.

I preodered 2 copies and its in the mail now, once i get em im sending one to ozferal. since it uses the JOPS engine it wont be much time until we get a few mods for it.

As EE is testing the med to see if it can be converted for JOPS. just might help those who map for JOPS.

I think the game was intended for the hard core DF players Skorpio. there seeing if they can get DF1 and maybe some DF2 players to play one of there newer games like they still do with the old ones. make them happy with a new game rather than dissatisfied with the newer gameplay, such as BHD/TS, and JOPS which was nothing like df1,2,LW, or TFD.

If you are right in its just like DF1,2 with updated graphics and some new stuff then maybe every BHD/JOPS player was wrong when they say "Nova dropped the ball again." maybe they actualy made a touchdown when it comes to the opinions of older game players? So if you compare it to BHD/TS your comparing it to the wrong game. Get off your high horse and look at what they said they will be doing and maybe, just maybe........you will see how wrong you just might be!

I'm a LW/TFD coop player. Never did get into Blackhawkdown or Joint Operations. In fact, I removed those from my hard drive, since I don't use them, and since Nova won't let me log into Novaworld's servers due to innactivity. DFX takes a couple of gigs of space, so why not clear out the garbage?

Since this was to be a return to the original, but with a better engine and graphics, I thought I'd give them another try. Like Jet mentions, BHD and JOPS are essentially different games, compared to the DF series that came before them. If this turned out to be more like the last two, rather than DF1-TFD, then it would be a dissapointment to me.

Having said that, and now having tried some single player maps in DFX, I lean towards dissapointment.

Yes, I could recognise what maps were being "reloaded" from DF1, but they essentially played like JOPS, but with some improvements on the latter's AI.

The bg's are no longer insanely hard to kill as they were in Joint OPs, and yes, they behave more like the original AI from DF1 - ie. running back and forth along a same tract, lower hit accuracy, etc. I'll give credit there.

But other than that, the environment is much like that of Joint Ops. There's too much dangED GRASS and TREES. My preference...I don't like games THAT realistic. You can't crawl towards enemies without your view usually being obstructed by the grass, which was my game play when getting up close to them. Now, you are more or less forced to charge into the situation, guns blazing. I haven't tried the snow levels yet, so perhaps this problem isn't there.

Also, the screen rocks back and forth as you crawl along, just like in JOPs. If this was going to be DF1-like, then Novalogic should have ditched that added headache-inducing reality.

From what I could tell, you can't zoom in with your gun. No more 2X, 4X, 6X magification. Still the dumb BHD era standard rifle with the unchanging scope; or sniper rifles that don't zoom in, and who's elevation gauge can't be altered, that I can see (even though the Help menu gives instructions on how to). I prefer the more user-friendly guns from the DF series.

So, no, this isn't DF1 on steroids. It's Joint Operations designed to look like DF1, with dumber bad guys. I won't be throwing away my old games.

It's not a wash, though. As with the older DF games, which stay alive through the talents of the volunteer map makers, I have every reason to believe they will make purses out of sow's ears. They will make some decent Coop maps out of this, now that the BGs are more killable, and since there's more varied environments.

Dude DO NOT THINK that the only delta force game I have heard of is BHD. PLUS I have NEVER played JOPS. Because it had a different theme and was never part of the Delta Force Series....it was a varation that tried to take away sales from Battlefield Vietnam. I first learned of the delta force series of the delta force 1 demo, couldnt find it in stores untill I saw delta force 2 in the store, played it and was immidately hooked with df2. Dont get me wrong, I loved delta force 2, every bit of it, no matter of the flaws I loved playing it and introduced a lot of my friends from my former high school to play. Ok, I have never played LW, TFD, but the real Delta Force Games are DF1 Df2 and DFBHD in my opinion. We used to meet up online in a private server in df2 which we were still using dialup! :o I have been playing Df2 almost extensively as that is the only computer game I truely played since I did not sit in front of my comp 24/7 untill october 2004 when I started to play BHD as my main primary game. I liked Df2 because of great online multiplayer, lots of missions, weapons, and it truely was a hit, because Novalogic produced a lot of stuff.

Then I played BHD, and I saw how Novalogic had truely improved, do a search on my rave on BHD in the BHD forum in DFBarracks. Although the theme for DFBHD / TS was limited as it is Black Hawk Down, I was happy that the Delta Force series had at least evolved in to a game worth buying.

To a point you are right, single player has the original delta force feel. I think that if I was the chief planner of the game....this would be my idea of DF:X and a winning combination

But Seriously redo the green loading theme of DF:X...it is so not cool....

Here's my idea.

Single Player:
Original Campaigns from the DF1 and DF2 Series
And ability to unlock the LW, TFD, BHD / TS campaigns
New Campaigns that could be downloaded from Novalogic in hot spots, like Desert Storm and Afghanistan for example.
Different Instant Action Missions like the ones from DF1 and DF2.
Take out drivable vehicles
Original weapons from DF1 and DF2 like the M40, M4 with Shotgun? SOCOM .45 Supressed? What about the Ghille Suit and LAR V vest? Where are those in DF:X?
Ability to unlock weapons through single player like G3, G36, PSG-1, and more weapons?
Smarter AI? Like the ones they have in HL2?

Multiplayer: I have not played multi but if I were to design it
Original multiplayer maps like Arizona Snow, and Happy Trails.
Ability to change Characters outfit, and face.
Different types of multiplayer…classic as the DF1 and Df2 game and other game types like flagball where you could use weapons from all the different campaigns that you unlocked…
PSP’s would be nice to have too.
And please...bring back ability to have up to 50 players for novalogic and public servers.

However Novalogic did screw up majorly in one place...there is no instant LAN option for DFX? You have to sign in? I mean come on? If you want people to try the DF Series at a lan party... I mean ????????? come on!!!!!!

And no...Im not the one on the high horse...if you saw my post above...I DID NOT give only a negative view...I listed pros and cons. If you took more time to read my point you would see that I implied that only if Novalogic included MORE CONTENT into the game, like weapons and stuff then would Delta Force Xtreme would be a hit. As I had stated they had a good idea to sell....but not enough content...as that is what I stress in a game. Gameplay and content. Have you seen Df2? It boasted over 40 missions and missions that could be unlocked?

I always want to recommend people a delta force game to show them what is better than the usual counterstrike as I got one of my roomates to play DFBHD and he likes it a lot

But Sorry...I certainly dont want to praise a game just because everyone else does. I think its just an average game for the price of only 20 bucks....its ok...to pass time but to not dedicate this as your primary game. After reevaluation and playing it for a while...i give it a C+ and I think Im being generous. As if i would evaluated Df2 and DFBHD, I would have given DF2 an A+, and BHD a A-.
