Can the bms be mapped out as to where things are?
I have some maps that load just fine while others i cant seem to join at all while using a router. It seems that some maps work just fine after
modification while others will not allow me to join the game and freezed on the loading mission from server...
I was contemplating using a hex dump utility to try to figure out the differences between the maps that work and those that dont.... but what would
be outstanding would be the pattern of the bms format itself to tell me what it is i am looking at without having to guess...
Does anyone know if such a layout exists or where i could find it? Probably some at nova might know but i doubt they would give out proprietary
information.....(or would they??????)
Any help would be appreciated to solve the mystery as to why some maps load just fine and others do not when behind a host router.

Jet,
The BMS is broken down in sections. The top of the file is Map information such as the game name, terrain, sky, water level etc. The next part is
the items are are used in the map and where they are placed. This section is followed by the events that happen. The event are broken down into
Triggers and Actions.
Each version of Delta force is a little different and certain each map will be different in size but the section will always be in the same order,
just not the same place.
As Keldorn already mentioned, it sounds like you should try using a BMS converter on the maps you are having issues with. It's a lot easier to read
the text then to try and look through the HEX code.
Once you have the MIS file, you can use the MED for the game and convert it back into a BMS file again. It might give you a cleaner build since some
of the information in a few sections of the BMS comes from the BMS process. If you compair the 2 BMS files (original one to the one convertered to a
MIS and back to BMS) there will be minor differences.
For DF2, FWO Raven was the creator of that BMS2MIS converter, but Novalogic almost the same methods as they used in the later version. They just get
more complex with all the stuff you can do in the game.
