Im not a fan on wireless for gaming...to many things can interfer...as games work on udp not tcp (as is with a download) if a packet is dropped it is not asked to resend( like tcp)
d/load pinger, it has a trace route built in, u will be able to establish where the connection is dropping...make take several goes.
Set pinger up to run a trace, join a server, as soon as a ci comes up drop the game to task bar run the trace
It may take several goes to actually find where the preoblem lays.

Thanks for answering, On my router setup it has a application gateway section where you can open ports to allow selected games to use which can be set to 'UDP' or TCP, will that help on the game and how do i get the settings to enable this ?

Oh any ideas where to d/load this 'Pinger'.

Thx.

Opening ports is when u wish to run a server....game, email, TS, web server etc
No will not help , it will not be your router.

Have a look in the download section here :o

Thanks Steptoe,

I contacted my ISP first and they said the network was ok. But i have since found out there is a problem after all and the first customer serv rep didn't know of problem so it turns out that an upgrade to there servers and they lost packets or whatever that means and it causes an un-stable connection speed. also dis-connections aswell.

So thanks for your advice and hopefully my adsl be back to full steam soon.

9 times out of 10, the isp help desk, and often their front tech help are no more than joe public reading from an instruction sheet!!!! If the realy knew anything, they wouldnt be sitting on a phone!!!
If having problems submitt logs, traceroutes etc...the prob then gets passed up to someone who does have a few clues.
