The df2 to Lw terrains were contained in the dowload frpm this site follow the link on the home page. thats all I used for the map

I created a support thread in the DFLW map making section as well..I'll make a sticky in this section as well, that points to it..

Installing Mods like DF2 and TFD Items..

If you would all subsribe to it, you can help answer any questions that may pop up..

On my first map i made using this mod, i added a ka-29 helix in it, and when the helix would go to red alert the thing went way up in the sky until it was invisible. I left the events and waypoints in the map but removed the helo. anyone know why it would do that? otherwise everything seems to work great.

Weird because over the years ive made around 100 maps for lw, and the only time ive ever seen that was when you destroy the helo not when it sees you or you pop a round off at it.
Maybe ive been lucky with my installs until now!
Ive subscribed to the thread so if i can help i will. I think maybe that thread answered my terrain question. i installed the tfd terrains and exp before the df2 objects. i need to do a clean install anyway so ill test that theory then.

I contacted DV, about the C4 Med..

I have permission to use the DF2,3, and 4 C4 stuff he did to create a C4 med for use with the DF2/TFD mods..

So, expect that in a few weeks, I have to trim out the unused 3DI's from the DF2 and TFD C4's, and create thumbnails for all of the items that don't already have one.

So far going well, it recognises the EXP terrains, the TFD terrains, and all of the DF2 Stuff, and TFD stuff that we haven't used a modified 3DI for..

Hairy, what 3di did you use for the train tracks mate, I need to rename the one from LW that you used ?

OK, I'm having a bit of trouble..I can't see all the items in the items def..

Here's what I have done..

I downloaded fresh copies of all 3 C4 meds, one for DF2,3 and 4.

I created a new folder, and put the DF3 C4 med there..I extracted all the files from the med.pff into this folder, and deleted the med.pff..so, it still works, only all the files are now in the directory, so it's a little messy..

I extracted the med.pff from the other 2 C4 meds, these contain the converted 3di required, and the terrains..and I put them all into the folder with the DF3 C4 med..now it's really messy...LOL..

I put a copy of the new items def in there as well, and wrote over the DF3 one.

I installed the Terrains for the EXP pack there as well..

I run the C4 exe, and tick the collision models

I load a terrain, they all seem to be there..

I insert, and look in the list..all the df2 itemd seem to be there, with 3di files..cool..most of the new TFD stuff is there, but, no tunnels, 2 of the new cave openings are there, but the one marked DR Evil is not, I also see that a lot of the LW stuff has gone walkabout as well

So, I removed all the objects from the def, thinking that maybe there is a limit on the items..this didn't work, the missing items are still missing..

The items that do show up work well, I have copied and renamed some of the 3di we used to create the new items, and they show up in the wire frame with no probs..

Does anyone have any more ideas for me..?

OK, I found the problem..something Dr Evil told me about a while ago..but didn't matter with the DF3 meds..it does with the C4 Med..

Any item containing the "attrib: NoCTool" in it's def won't show in the med..all fixed..I'll get on with it..

The edited 3DI I used for the Train Tracks was simply titled "Tracks.3DI", how's that for clarity? lol

Here's a good question for you EE. I have two copies of DFLW running, and they both now have the TFD mod in them. In one of them the tracks show up and in the other they do not. Everything else seems to appear just fine except for the two new rock formations that share the same 3DI for some reason. Stranger still, OzFeral also has two copies of DFLW running and the train tracks do not show up in either one of them, and again everything else appears just fine. Very odd.

And another good question for you, wondering why the destroyable brick wall section was eliminated from the final release. Had some plans for that thing, LOL.

I have 2 copies running and it appears in both. But im still getting some weird stuff from the helix and the gazzele now.

There are a few much ups that I didn't pick up, like changing thr default truck to a TFD white truck..lol..but that won't matter...I can patch that later if I need to..

I don't know anything about the rocks, I just added what you gave me Hairy..

My copy has all the items showing..no probs, maybe Oz has the wrong install..??!!

I've gotten well into the C4 mwd, I have all the items in, with all the terrains including the EXP Terrains..I'm doing the Med pics now, I'll even have some to add to the separte versions of thr DF2 and TFD C4 meds..but they can wait..I've done all the DF2 vehicles so far..

The only bad thing is, it's size, it's going to be about 45 megs, and that's winrar'd..cos I have to include all the terrain files..

danged peculiar. Now that I've finally gotten around to opening up the items.def I see that you are exactly right. I was hoping it was just a typo in the .def but it is exactly right in there. Makes no sense at all. It seems that people, meaning me and OzFeral LOL, are having problems with the last three items you added to the .def. She still has no train tracks, I only have them in one copy of DFLW, and both of us have the same two rocks where it obviously should be two different ones just based on the CORRECT items.def. This is just so bizarre considering how many items you ended up removing from the Mod, it's definitely not an issue of having too many new objects. Any ideas?

I have no idea why you haven't got the Rails..you should have if you have the right download..

I did cut the Mod short, I was looking at download size..maybe, if this takes off OK, we can do a part 2 later....

This is bugging me, and I have to wonder if anyone else has been affected in the same way. Could someone else please verify that you have the train tracks and two new rock formations in your game, and do a visual inspection of those items in a map?

As for a part 2, one of the fun things I'd like to do is play around with the Scale function I used to create the train tracks out of the ladder. So far everything I've tried to make bigger or smaller has worked, the only downside is the object becomes intangible so it will have to be for decoration purposes only. It would be interesting if we could apply Scale to people and create giants or midgets, or maybe make a chimpanzee out of the Yeti? I dunno, LOL. I haven't tried people yet.

Just for you EE I'll rescale and reskin an oil drum and turn it into a can of Foster's beer for you, LMAO. Even with that example, which I do intend to do, you can see the possibilities this may give us.

Hi Guys


Just some info for you all. The grasshopper sound file is corrupt in LW... well on my comp it is.

I place it on a map and the when I go to open the map it tells me it cant find the wave file it took me 2hrs no nail it to the grasshopper wave in markers.

Ive always had that problem Ice, i made a night map and used the desert wind sound and the grasshopper hoping it would sound good but it didnt work.

I didnt have much trouble narrowing that down having 50 of each and clicking the select all and then delete.

If it could be fixed that would be great.

how in God's name did you do that before EE???!?!?! All those names, the big list. Must of taken you AAAGGGGGEEEEESSSS!!! Im impressed at how anyone can do that... how long did it take!?
Jet - i find it amusing when them helos fly off into the sky. Only if I were standing in it while it was NOT deaf or blind, so it shot itself to bits then it took off with me in it. I had no idea what was going on so i jumped out at about a kilometre into the sky. You should of seen the crater!lol

Well, the first post in this thread was posted on 28-8-2004 and the post with the day I uploaded it is dated 26-9-2004, that's one month, with the help of Evil, and Hairy with a few items, and Icemans map posted the same day..my Mrs wasn't impressed with how much time I spent doing it, but she lived !!!

Was fun, maybe I'll start DFLW items to TFD !!!

Right after I fixed that dang front wheel !! lol..
