The olympics

Surprised this hasn't been brought up.

Has anyone noticed that some mystical strange force is making the olympics dull and unwatchable, even more the normal, i hate the olympics, a bunch of people who train all of their life to fall on their face is fine, but no one dies like the real olympics, so ill just go watch real sports.

Anyone got any comments on what is killing it? I think its that NBC posted 5 frames of the fencing competition that the US won gold. 5 pictures, and the entire crying receiving gold medal scene took around 20 minutes. good work, what?

So ppl, why do the olympics suck?

think it might be a case of that there is so much else going on in the world atm, that the olympics seems to pale in comparison. I figure thats also y there is hardly anyone even there at the olympics.

We have good coverage here, and being live, due to time zones, it works out well for evening veiwing....
often having to watch replays cause of time zones takes a lot away.

I just wish that here they would stop showing Ian Thorpes 200m victory... don't need to see it this many times lol.

The sychronised diving was good though... with the chinese splash out and i think it was russia hitting the board... After years of practice u have to wonder how they stuff up in that fashion... Not timing things quite right I can understand, but they made some BIG stuff ups.

well i might not be the est to answer this post because i hate the olimpics and think its a waste of good tv time for australia with only realy 3 good tv chanels and while the olimpics are on there are only 2 because on one its 24/7 olimpics

but i think a bad thing is they only show basicly 1st unless its an aussie thats 3rd.
also the olimpics are just to professional now there are people trying to cheat but it used to be just any old person racing not someone who has trained all their life.

me being picky.... The original Olympics was to show off ones battle skills. Men who's whole life was about battle, Like the spartans, would come together, and show off their skills in competition against each other. So to be technical it was always really an elitist event. :P but as I said... just me being picky...

Side not though... Congrats to the USA guy who won the Male cycling time trial last night. Not a bad result winning after serious injury during the Tour De France a month or so ago... Though.. Yikes what happen to Ulrich? has he dropped off or what.

I think the olympics is great. It gives exceptional atheletes the recognition that they deserve but don't get most of the time, and it gives all the nations in the world a chance to compete against each other in friendly competition without (hopefully) political issues coming into it. Anyone see the opening ceremony, with North Korean and South Korean atheletes all holding hands with one another. Although small, I thought that was a commendable gesture of peace between the two countries. I think certain people don't like the olympics cause China are inevitably gonna beat the USA...

This is unfounded to make a comment like that. I can only get a few meanings out of this.

1. Americans wont watch this because China, in your opinion is going to win more medals?

2. Chinese are better athletes then the Americans?

3. You mentioned politics & peace before posting the above quote. Is this suppose to be some subliminal meaning to say Chinas going to take us to war and beat us?

Please explain this to me and as of why you would post that? You obviously dont like America and it shows in the majority of your posts.

I hope your meaning to say China wins more medals overall because in that case, its still discrimination although its the least of all the above.

What country are you from may I ask, or are you too ashamed and scared to tell us?

China would win more medal or even amount of medals, as people said the olympics have nothing to do with politics (again hopefully, where as in the Munich games) its a friendly game where athletes compete against one another, its an event that show cases the best athletes from across the globe,

where you got the idea of china beating the US in a war i have no idea (well maybe some), but if thats the case both of them wont win becuase both are set on conventional war, but that could be discussed in another post.

back on topic

im with jakl, i like the more fast pace sports, generally judo, fencing, baseball (though i could watch the Major Leagues), basicaly im more of a winter games myself there you got some fast sports, hockey, bobsled, skiing, snow boarding, speed skating and other great events.

Note: to those who dont know what happended in the Munich games, it was when politics got into the games, known as Black September, a group of Palestianan (sp) gunmen (dont know how many of them), took (11 i dont remember the numbers) Israeli players, German police and military stormed the building but in a failed attempt, all 11 were killed and all gunmen were killed, that incident led to the formation of GSG-9, Delta Force (1977), and and CT-AT unit of the SAS

As of right now its dead even.

China has 15 Gold, 11 Silver, 10 Broze = 36 Medals
USA has the exact same amount. How would you know "China will or would," win more medals..?

11 Israelis were killed.
German police did not storm the building they were in but rather airlifted the hostages and terrorist out of the hotel area, to the Munich airport, once grounded they assaulted the aircraft killing all of the hostages and terrorist....

Just thought you might like to know ;)

Go USA Women's Soccer and USA Women's Softball. I would love to see the USA Women's Volleyball team start playing as a TEAM!

Swimming coverage has been awesome. I still can't believe that Paul Hamm came back and won Gold! :D

American Kim Rhode won her second gold and third overall Olympic medal Wednesday in the women's double trap final.

Go May and Walsh in Beach Volleyball!

thanks S for the info, i know bits and pieces about the failed CT rescue, some say that the police went in guns blazing then i would say a picture of a burnt out huey with German colours,

assumptions, China was leading in the medals for the past few days (now US), though they would take it the full length

so ill just go watch real sports.
What a load of BS. I'm sorry but that really is total crap. What, may I ask would you define a 'real sport'? The olympics is the world championship, the most talented sportsmen & women from all over the world do what they do best there, legends are written & records are broken. Plus - most sports are an olympic event, except for baseball/american football.. maybe there are a few others but the olympics dont 'suck'.
Some people...
