What happen to the tournaments?
it says that it would be up by september 1 , 2003 :o? it's 2004!! that is almost a year ago! do i have to wait until september this year?
Cocept is great...problems are
1/volunteers to organise and run...its a huge and intensive job
2/ As DFB is very international and not 'squad 'orientated, getting squads together, time zones, location of servers and ping times...the logicistics
of the project becomes very complex.
We have some time zone probs just between NZ and western aussie, and we are on the same day but, diff of 4 hrs.
Throw in being diff days and 7 to hrs diff, means matches for sat afternoon in one place late frid night the other being the only time matche to be
played....then 1 team plays at 60 to 110 ms ping the other, 250 to 450 ms, then throe in a couple cis and lost packets.....
See what I mean?
This was discussed some time ago.
The only other way is contenental matches...then intercontenal matches, but regardless of where the server is (putting aside time zone probs) its not
good or enjoyablegame play even if both teams are pinging in at 250 to 450 ms
I am talking icmp here, throw in machine lag, as the df 'ping' and it gets even worse.
Exactly what Steptoe says, we just don't have the manpower or the time, I had a U2U from galaxycrest the other day, I told hin basiclly the same
thing..so Sorry, but if you want tournaments, you'll need to organise your own, or try one of the smaller squads sites, they often have one going..
Also check out the Squad pages, there's often a thread about tournaments in there.
