Stupid teamates dont follow me accuratly


I am getting crazy with that Teamates. I even set them to Go to group.
They are following me and obeying my orders. But they still using a straight line path to get to me. In Single Player missions the teamates follow us accuratly and they dont stuck in place. Plz help me.

We've discussed this before, there's nothing special that Nova does...they have no waypoints, they are on the same team as you..they are set to follow you...there are no wac commands that make them do this..there are no events that make them do this...

That's all we can get from examining the Stock Maps, the bin files and wac files..

There may be something that we missed, but I've already spent way too much times disecting BHD maps..

We've spoken about this a number of times. As Eagle_Eye has said, there is no magic solution other than the answers you have already received.

The only true method of ensuring AIs follow your every step is to walk in a straight line on flat ground with no decorations, buildings or vehicles to get in the way.

When making Single Player maps you must use a combination of player waypoints, teammate waypoints, area triggers and even teleport targets to get AI's to 'appear' to follow you thru buildings, in tunnels, narrow alleyways, confined spaces or heavy vegetation.

Becasue they are AIs and not human beings, they will do as they are programmed (ask any married guy!). When told to 'goto group' or 'goto player', that is exactly what they will do. They will take the most direct route to achieve that goal. They are not capable of 'seeing' buildings, trucks, trees, corners etc. and going around them.

If the player walks around a corner, a staircase landing or tunnel and puts a building fence or wall (or any other object) between you and the straight line to the AI, they will always get stuck.

When making your map you MUST carefully plan the routing of the temmates to cover any route the player may take. It takes a lot of time and a lot of adjustment as trial and error will reveal the numerous corrections that need to be made. There is no easy, magic solution.

If you are doing what has been suggested to you in the many times you have raised this question you will get the results you desire.

Hey Ozair,
I have been looking to the MIS of the SP maps by Novalogic, and i think the best way to send teammates to player is by the following way:
Don't use "GO to Player" Or "Go to SSN"

You must set all your teammates to Group 1(Blue players), then Make a event:
"Go to Gruop".
This may Not help your temmates get Stuck, But is better than "Go to Player".
They Formation would be more accurate.

Ok, One qustion!!!
How can i make the "RoomTakeDown" .
How can Place the red triangle to make a "Room TakeDown", and then make the teammates to TROW A FLASHBANG in to room and the enter to clean the room.

does Anyone have any knowledge!!!

There may be a solution, we don't know what it is, we are not Novalogic, so it's no "FUNNY JOKE.." we didn't write the game, or the original missions, we learnt to map by disecting Nova maps, reading the manual and posts here..

I have gone over BHDSP_18 with a fine tooth comb, I don't know why they follow you with such pinpoint accuracy..

Yes, it should work..but it doesn't, don't forhet, we use an unlocked med, done by a DF fan, not Nova. Nova has there own Med, they gave us a trimmed down version. I've even opened the mis files in a text editor, and I can't find anything to help..

We don'thave Andys email..try emailing Nova..

And jozel. The autoarea rome takedown. I think this can be done by a teleport target mark with a particel effects. Tell me your email address I will try to think about that and I will tell you.

Ozair, the PCX file is just an intro pic, nothing more, it just displays while the map is loading. You can make one by pressing the screenshot (F11), then the game will take a screenshot, and place the pcx formatted picture into your BHD install folder. PCX, is just a file format for pictures, the same as a jpg, or gif is "Just" a file format.

When I do an intro pic, I ususally run my SP mission, bring up the mission briefing by pressing the "G" key (because I have a bin file), take a screen shot containing the info..like I did with the EXP map "Operation Orca" which was shipped as a stock SP map with the EXP install.

Yes, we know if you press the "Caps Lock" you can use your teammate commands to hold the team back, we know that you can then call him back to your position, we know that in the Nova Stock SP Missions, the teammate doesn't get stuck on buildings, he comes straight to you as if on a set of waypoints.. we "Don't" know why we can't get our single player maps to do the same.

BTW, if you leave your teammate behind too far in "Last Stand", he WILL get stuck as well..

I have Tested the SP map Last Stand 10000000 times. He dont get stucked in any way. There is a solutoin that we dont know what it is about. THe Pcx file thanks. Now I understand how to do it. But in Last Stand he dont get stucked anyway.:(

The bad news us...he get's stuck, I tested the teammate by playing Last Stand, just prior to my last post, I left the teammate back near the broken wall,on the start side of the wall.. went on through. had the two little birds do the stafing run, went around the coner to the next felt turn and called the teammate..he got stuck...but yes, there is a trick that we can't duplicate..

Eagle you are right
Check the mission Last stand:
When the little bird has strafed run then go back to that building. You will see a wall and smoke around it. Now by 3rd person view see the building from above. Now set your teamate to follow you. He will follow you 100% accuratly. I tested like that many times.

Oh my god Eagle_Eye - you were right !!!!

If you leave a teammate somewhere, then run back to him and say follow me he will follow you.

If you leave a teammate somewhere and don't run back to him but tell him to follow you he gets stuck.

Well isn't that just the darnedest thing?!

I have done exhaustive testing on this subject, I usually don't answer until I'm sure of a fact...

Here's a breakdown of the facts ........

In the "Last Stand", or any of the maps with "Teammate Commands"..you can leave your team behind, then call them up, they seem to have great accuracy in negotiating the buildings, and rarely get "Stuck" on a building.

It depends where you leave them, and how far back you leave them as to whether they get stuck of not....when you call them up.

If you go back to them, then press "Follow Me".. they will always follow you smoothly...

A lot of the time, they follow through tight situations, and I/we can't duplicate this action...

What we do know is..this..(from the last stand)

1. You have 1 teammate who will follow.
2. the ssn number of the teammate is 3334
3. in event 12 SSN 3334 is directed to nearest waypoint in list 126 which is the event that enables the teammate commands
4. ssn3334 is on the blue team.
5. no other event pertains to ssn 3334
6. no wac file uses ssn 3334
7. nothing in the bin file for ssn3334
8. ssn 3334 can't follow the "Blue Team" waypoints because of event 12.
9. ssn3334 is set to Red Alert
10. The player start Marker is set to "Neutral" team

If there is other stuff you have found about this...let me know.

If your teammate doesn't get stuck, well, your lucky..mine does, sometimes, not all the time.., and 7>Snake's does..

Hi, There is a solutoin and the teamate dont get stuck. Snake I will show you by some screenshots but you will have to wait a longer. But the teamate has no problem. I have tested it thousand times he dont get stucked.

OK, are we talking about the Normal Stock games, or ones you have made, cos this is getting confusing..

I don't care if a stock map teammate gets stuck..I can go back and free him if he does..

I thought this was all about getting this to work on your own Maps..!!

If you have found a solution as to why the teammate following takes a straight line path....post it here..

Jozel you will have to wait because my brother has deleted my game and I have to restore all my data. You will have to wait a little longer and Eagle_Eye I failed to make the teamates follow me accuratly but I found some files in the pff file, I dont know what are they about. Here is the list I extracted.

SPBHD_11.ain
SPBHD_11.dbf
SPBHD_11.lwf
SPBHD_11.end

I dont know what are these files for. Any help???????????????:(

These stupid novalogic dont tell me the email of Andy Kipling or Dre, Trevor or Jason Tull. When I ask a questoin about those stupid teamates they say that we cant answer about the MED of any program.

Sorry, I shouldn't have told you to email Nova..if you read the print on the Med Manual, it states that there is no support..

The .dbf and .lwf files are both sound files, sort of a library file set up, that's where the "String Dialog" is setup..you know, when the SP maps say Play dialog number xx, and then a heap of waves are set up to form a long sentence.

I'm not sure about the other 2, but, in my test maps I've been doing, I just renamed them to suit my own mission..it didn't help

Now, I've been taking a look at the "Room Takedown", you know it's greyed out when we bring up our teammate commands, and in "Radio Aidid", there are 2 takedowns, one at the front door, and one up top on about the 3rd floor.

When you step into an area, the room takedown comes on, and the backspce icon appears..also, if you pres the caps lock, the room takedown becomes active..if you step back, it greys out again, step back in, and it reappears, you can do this as many times as you want, and it keeps switching. On the one on the ground floor, I also see the spinning triangle (in the med, this is the icon for room takedown).., sitting above the door.

Now, the one on the top floor has a z value, cos it doesn't come on when you walk under it..only on the top floor, just as you pass the end of the stairwell railing..

OK, so I bms to mis the SDBHD_08, and loaded it into the Med..there are no icon's for room takedown anywhere in the map, yet, when I play it, I can see it, so...

Also, I can't see any trigger, with a z value, near the top floor where the icon is triggered..

Therefore, it's my opinion, that 2 things have happened..

1. The bms to mis that we use, and I have 2 different ones..doesn't convert all the items correctly..like the takedown icon..

2. The Med we have, isn't unlocked correctly, and we can't set takedowns up..same with the teammate follow..

I shall carry on researching, in hope that I find something I can report..

I now have about 6 different installs of BHD...

The original install, 1.0.0.5
A 1.3.0.37 install, No TS
A 1.5.0.5 install, No TS
A 1.3.0.37 install with EXP, no TS
A 1.5.0.5 install with EXP
A 1.5.0.5 install with TS and EXP

I have the original med..2.00
2.05b unlocked..
2.05c unlocked..
2.00h unlocked
2.00i unlocked..2.06b
2.06b camo..

So, I've plenty to play with, on a number of versions..

LOL..time..I wish...Mrs gets peeved at me nightly...for being on here so often...

She knows all the missions on BHD, and has never played the game....Oh, my PC is in the living room, otherwise, I'd never see her.....lol...

We only have a 3 bedroom house, so, everytime we had a kid, I lost my PC space..that's why I ended up in the living room....lol..

I'm a stay at home Dad, 3 kids 7,6,5..last one just started school..now I'm gonna have to get a job, or create one..lol..maybe AB can pay me...LMAO..

Need animation ID


Hey, Any one know what is the Animation # or ID to make a Teammate to trow a Flashbang.

I not mean when the player press the Back sapce for room take down,
I want to make a teammate to trow a Flash Bang with out me pressing Back space!!!

So, i should be with a Animation or teleport target or what???

I haven't used it but there is an effect called "Effect_FlashBangToss" for teleport targets that you may want to try.

I would guess you should need waypoints to get the teammate to the location and timing to make it happen correctly.
