Using a C4 Med

The wire frame "C4" editor is a bit tricky. The instructions are the same for DF2,DFLW and DFTFD.

A "C4" editor is a converted Med from Commanche 4, hence the "C4" name.

You can unzip the Med, and it's contents into a folder. Move the whole folder into the DF2 folder if you want. It will run from anywhere, unlike an "Unlocked" med, which must be placed into the DF Directory.

When you run the med, the first thing you do is tick the "Collision Model" box on the left, or the Med will crash.

The main thing to remember is, the file made by the C4 med are "NOT" compatable with you DF2 med. So, you need to use the converter suppled in the zip.

You can "NOT" make a bms file that will work from a mis file created by a C4 med, it must be converted back to a DF2 mis file first.

So, here's what you do.

1. Use your normal Df2 med or unlocked med to create your map, put in your building and AI, do not do any events, as events do not convert well between the 2 meds.

2. Save the mis file.

3. Find the MissionConvert.exe program located in the C4 directory. Run this..from the pull down menu, select the DF2 to C4 script. Click convert, locate the mis file your working on...load it, when it converted, the save button will not be grayed out, this may take a minute..when the save button is ready, save the mis file to the folder where you have the C4 med.

4. Open the C4 med, click collision models, use the med to adjust heights, you can figure this out for yourself.

5. save the file as a mis file, Do NOT export as a bms...

6. Run the Mission Converter, and choose C4 to DF2 script, load, convert, and save back to the original DF2 directory, you may want to use a different file name, so you don't overwrite the original.

7. open the DF2 Med, load the Mis.

8. Export the mis to a bms file.

9. Run DF2 and look at your map.
