Your 'cd' for the game needs replaced. The large install is needed to play multiplayer. The error you got points to corrupt software. You may try cleaning the cd w/ windex, and then try to load it, however , its only a matter of time , if its getting errors on loading , before its gonna have to be replaced. Bout 10.00 US. ;)

NP, may even try to get the 'Triology' , i think Nova's got it cheap? DF2, 3 , & 4 are included in it, ( ah, may be df1, 2 , & 3) don't remember, but i saw it somewhere for about 20.00 dollars us.

Lol, yes all of the games in the df series are 'compatible' w/ XP pro, ( XP is the most widely used OS out there , i think.) The fellow who told you that doesn't need to be giving computer advice , obviously. Compatibility issues are usually brought out when your processor isn't fast enough, or you have a small amount of memory, ie: useing an older computer. If you had it installed before, it'll work again. ;) ps ... if your not quite sure about particular games, simply ck the pkg they are wrapped in, it will have the sys specs. and, btw, your not bugging us,lol, thats why this forum exists, can't really list 'all' the games/programs compatible w/xp pro, lol, it would be quite a long list, follow my instructions posted here.

Are you sure you did a 'LARGE INSTALL'? The 'black-screen' is typical of a 'small-install' , and it runs in 'software mode', (with a small install, you cannot update the game, or add pataches). As for the 'blink-play' i have no idea what that is,lol? Never heard of it. I did a google search, and found no results? (keyword=blinkplay). After the 'large-install' it simply needs the df2 update, ( located in the d/loads section here at the barracks, its more reliable than the in game update). ps..... you may want to visit the 'pc-pitstop' and register for a free account, try a full battery of tests, it will ck your rig and running applications , from there you might have a better idea if its the machine or the 'software' PCPITSTOP

Mine is set to over 1000, (i think the resolution is a matter of your own opinion), and for df2, while playing, you can cycle it with the V button.

How am i supposed to know if its a virus? Did you go to the pcpitstop? I'll break it down for you ,,, #1 load cd , select LARGE INSTALL. (after install , re-boot). #2 D/load the df2 update and save it to your df2 folder, simply double click it when done. (re-boot) . #3 Now, ck to see if you can play, if so proceed w/adding other features, such as dffavs/cb, exp-paks, etc, etc. Without being in front of the machine i cannot tell you whats happening to it, thats why its important to be as descriptive as possible. Your first question was about the 'type' of install, i coverd that. A large install is needed for multiplayer gaming. Your second question was "is df2 compatible w/ XP pro"? Yes, i covered that, as most games are. Third question, you seem to be getting the same error after install, and after an attempt to clean the cd, (at this point i somehow think you ran another 'small-install, because the problem is the same). Now, at this point , i'm thinking its the software or the game update,(but we are still stuck). Enter 'Steptoe' with a bit of 'hardware' questions, is your computer compatible w/XP PRO? <----- No answer? What are the computer specs? <------ No answer. Question three," is the update needed to play? Yes, in order to play online the update is needed. I answered that one. Question four, " is my resolution" set correctly? I answered that one as well. Do you have an anti virus program? If so, run a scan. Then you'll know. If i were you, i'd go to the pcpitstop, and run a full battery of tests, it will ck for computer issues, and/or problems w/your rig. Without being more descriptive, i don't know what your doing wrong?
