Very powerful indeed, excellent tribute to those who died 3 yrs ago on that fright ful day, and to the millions upon million's of soldiers who gave
thier lives not only so we could live a free life but also to preserve freedom. As it says we cant forget the fateful day of 9/11 nor the day when the
world was divided between the good and the evil or the day when the world held its breath as 175,000 American, French, British, Canadian, Polish and a
mix of German born Americans etc. landed on the beaches of Normandy to begin freedom. I have to say People my age 14,15,16,17 take things for granted
they never know what could have happended if the Nazi's came to power or Communism invaded us. we all disrespect soldiers and our grand fathers but we
dont know what they gave so we could be free and live a life where we have freedom of speech Law and Order.

We sit in our safe little houses, in our safe little towns, in countries that have not seen war for many generations, and over a 100 yrs...all nice
and cozy....
The we SEE IT, feel IT, HEAR IT, SMELL IT..and suddenly becomes a big issue....
And Of those ppl /families, around the world, just like us, in war torn parts of the world, Asia, Aftrca, MiddleEast, Europe, Ameriica....they they
have to deal with these horrors , not once, but day in day out year after yr....
These are Fathers mothers, children same as us.....
Isnt it about time the twin towers was put into true perspective.....
Does 1 high profile and dramatic terrorist action caught on film outstrip a string of smaller ones, that have created 1000s of times more personal
greif damage and heartache over a much longer period?

great presentation dave seen it before several times but i can never close window till its done very moving
yes good points STEPTOE as you said its not like this is worse than any other nations pain, hardships, war, poverty, ETC. its as u said just more
televised
im wondering though if this happened in Paris, London, Sydney, Rio, Rome, or any of other tourist cities around the world where alot of people would
have video cameras & cameras to film as happened at 9-11.
if it would of been a major news story and televised world wide probably but maybe not to the same extent.

Steptoe there were people killed from 81 different countries in the World Trade Center attacks and please don't forget the Pentegon
and the field in Shanksville Pa. where people also died.
The timing of this is perfect because here in the US it seems lately that people have already forgotten. Either that or they don't deal with reality
very well.

Dave, that was put togther well. Steptoe you make a good point. But, I have fought for freedom in Afghanistan and Iraq. War torn countries both of
them. Most like Americans and British soldiers, But far too many will stick out their hands in friendship and stabb you with the other. Do I hate
these people? NO! All call upon the US for help and then some, not all turn and bite off the hand that feeds them. If we don't remember why we go to
these countries and destroy terrorist then we forget about all the men and women gave all for those struck down and could not defend themselves.

I dont feel like I have forgotten, but rather I prefer not to remember, although like most I always will.
Whenever I read/hear stories, tales of individuals caught up in some way on 9/11 I feel exactly as I feel when listening to my national anthem or
having a quiet moment on rememberance Sunday. Those I feel are the appropriate times to remember.
Having said all that.
Great tribute, maybe a little too chilling ? or do you think that was the intention ?

i agree mate.
In the UK the terrorist act of 9/11 was televised, publicised and talked about on the news for weeks. Remember the earthquake in China a couple of
months back......3 days that was talked about, yet many more people were killed. I have a mother who lives in Turkey, yet i have to sort through pages
of internet sites if i want to find news on the trouble and violence in the east......why? Cos it's not commercially profitable to talk about!
Thats all it is boys and girls.....the terrorists want publicity and the newspapers thrive on bad news in high profile places! Just like when Princess
Diana died.....they still haven't left it alone in the UK. Please do everyone (families, workmates and friends) a favour and let them rest in peace!

I was on the Rainbow warrior shortly before she got blown out of the water by French Government Terorists
Freinds reliatives where in Bali
Got m8s, the few still alive from Nam
GrandFather was in the Somme
Uncles in Battle Brittian,Pacific, Cusin in Crete and Stag pow camp
Neighbour survived PolPot, kid grew up using human skulls for footballs, ankles and throat cut as kids of 6 and 7
Grew up with a lady next door with tatoos on her wrist....
Mine is not near the level of most others around the world, in the but I certainly truely feel for those families that Is see on the news.....]
I watched the series Band of Brothers last week, eposode 9...more than a tear came to my eye

why dont you take that course of action, watching your comments on dfb, you know your stuff, you know about Cambodia, the Bali bombing and yes
Gallipoli (the movie itself was based on one event) but it would be good to see a whole series of events rolled into one showing...I was in Auckland
the day the Rainbow Warrior bas bombed....all in all, you should...actually should being such a demanding word, would you be able to put a segment
like the one above?
I like many here could be a point of reference for pics and stuff

They have singled it down to like 5-10 designs their probably going to make a decision. but right now i believe it is just a big concrete memorial.

this little strip of film then reach into a person's heart it makes them remeber the day we thought we was safe that no one could touch us. some pppl
call it a reality check, some say we deserved it, while others are still in shock that such a horror could happen. me it just pisses me off that we
allowed such a thing to happen. very powerful indeed and it is a day i shall never ever forget, for it is a day i lost brothrs and sisters to someones
ignorance.

Something missing . . .
There's no doubt that the presentation is powerful and emotional and brought back the memory of horror on that fateful day. However, I noticed
something sorely lacking in the content of the presentation.
The questions of why? and how? did this tragedy happen.
Probably the 2nd greatest security failure in the history of the U.S. (aside form Pearl Harbor) and to date those (2) little questions have yet to be
answered satisfactorily. Additionally, there has yet to be a single individual in the entire gamut of public officialdom (civilian or military) that
has had any level of accountability ascribed to them.
I believe the greatest memorial that can be erected and dedicated to the victims of the evil deed of 9/11 lies in the American people discovering the
unvarnished truth and holding the appropriate public officials accountable for their actions or inactions which may have facilitated the terrorists in
their sinister plot.
The Family Steering Committee (FSC) for The Independent 9/11 Commission is an independent, non-partisan group of individuals who lost loved ones on
September 11, 2001. The FSC does NOT receive financial aid or other support from any outside orginazation.
Last week the FSC issued a statement stating that the Bush administration, which initially opposed the creation of an independent commission, has been
uncooperative with demands made by the commission for information in addition to attempting to limit the commission's time and financial resources
which they deem crucial to getting the answers of why? and how? This is unacceptable. Especially so coming on the heels of the same administration
using video snippets of the 9/11 tragedy in their recently unveiled presidential campaign commercials.
At this time, the Bush administration is attempting to limit George W. Bush's time answering questions from the Commission to a single hour. They
refuse to allow VP **** Cheney and National Security Adviser Condi Rice to testify at all.
Contrast that with the fact that former President Bill Clinton, former VP Al Gore and former National Security Sandy Berger have all committed to
answer questioning by the Commission without any time restrictions.
I urge everyone who is truly interested in seeing that justice is accomplished and that the truth known about the why? and how? of 9/11 support the
FSC in their tireless effort. This is not a matter of Republican vs. Democrat or conservative vs. liberal. If America is truly concerned and
committed to ensuring that a horrific incident of this sort never occurs on our shores again (or the shores of other freedom-loving countries as well)
we must know the answers to the questions of why? and how? For the families, friends and obviously for the victims, nothing short of the unvarnished
truth as to why 3000 Americans died needlessly that day should be asked for or accepted.
Following is a link to the FSC website. Take special note of the section on "Unanswered Questions" and the statement from February 16, 2004
requesting that George W. Bush provide unfettered testimony before the commission.

I think you missed the point , It's a short memorial presentation. It's not lacking anything...if you wanted to add in your bits, it would turn into a
full length feature..it's short and to the point..
The Point.. "Never Forget"
No ones disputing your long wided arguement..but a lot of people won't read a post that long. The quest to uncover the truth doesn't belong in this
particular Memorial..
