DELTACHRIS-

You need to open your players settings in notepad and change your max ping number to a higher number.
Open your bhd folder in notepad
now select the drop down box where it says text change it to show all files.
Now look for a file called this-dfv.cfg and open it in notepad.
Now scroll down to multiplayer and look for max ping- 1500
change the 1500 to 5000
After you do that save it as all files in the drop down box.
If you save it as a text file it will not work, you must save it as all files so it replaces it's self as the file it was.
If you done this right after you go play online you should not get punted and if you do it will not be as near as much as when that number was set to 1500.
I hope this helps.
This will work in most cases.
I have tested it my self.
I was in a server once and my max ping setting was at the default setting of 1500.
Of course I got punted.
So I came out of game opened notepad.
Changed max ping setting to 7000. Then I went back into the same server and did not get punted again.
To be sure I came out and changed it back to 1500 went back in and got punted. Came back out and changed back to 7000, and did not get punted. Are you getting the picture?
YOU have alot better chance of not getting punted if you raise your players max ping rate then if you do not.
:D

Delta Chris, open notepad. Then direct it to your bhd game folder. This should be the path.

C:\Program Files\NovaLogic\Delta Force Black Hawk Down
:P

M BRO, to get to notepad just go to start then menu and it is listed in program menus. This does not adjust your ping times. It just raises how hi your max ping will go before you get punted. The default setting that novalogic gives us is 1500. But that is not enough for someone on dialup or if a server starts to lag a little. I hope this helps.:D

high pings

regarding high pings, question go out. I ran a ping trace and found a couple servers I went through ping pretty high along the way. I there any way to skip those particular servers or do I just have to grin and bear it

i know you tested it bova but i cant realy see it doing anything for client/player as the setting you are changing is for the host's ping punt limit

but hey if it does work all the better for the 56k'rs

kadafi,i dont think you can change the route, just gotta roll with the flow

maxping change

Bova

Thanks mate I'm a 56ker and making the change you suggest seemed to help me.

Perhaps you can help with telling me which key to use during the game to minimise the game screen so i can access my desk top, might be silly question but i can't find the answer anywhere thx.:(:

Some coop Maps

Just thought to add something, some coop maps will punt late joiners to a map after something has blown up or been changed in the map from the starting one, if you get punted a bunch from a coop server in say 30 minute span, try connecting to a tdm or dm or something. It may only be that you need wait for the coop to change maps and chances are you can get in fine. This Rarely applies to a tdm map (though i am not that sure, i have never been kicked from tdm but i have seen alot of people kicked from my coop server and spent the time to find out why.) (Of course Bova, P1g and BBZ maps rarely have this problem early in the map or at all)

Alt+Tab should do the trick for you, mate.
I can use Alt+Esc too, but I'm on OS Win 98SE.

Also press either: Alt+Esc, Ctrl+Esc or Alt+Tab . Sometimes it helps to press twice.

The window key between ctrl and alt at bottom left of the key board works pretty good. It opens the start menu along with the desktop.

changing the ping setting isn't going to stop u getting sysdumps. it only helps ur system to not punt u from a game because of ur ping. do a search of the forums for sysdump and u should find some possible fixes for it.

I posted that because he was having connectivity issues also. Most people that have problems with bhd is because of the ping. If he or she can't recieve or transmit the data to and from a server fast enough that will cause system dumps also. But you know it all. Tell Steptoe I said hi while your at it. :P
