Map updating - got a good idea
Map updating - got a good idea
You know how when the maps are getting old and it goes into the 2nd, 3rd page, etc? Well it should be so when you update your map the people get a
chance to see it again on the first page 'cause it was updated; 'cause they are highly unlikely to go to the 2nd, 3rd page, etc.
What do you think?

Well... there are some good things about that, and some flaws...
One major flaw... those people who make like tunnel maps or some 2 minute map and think its the best thing ever would probably "update" it everyday to
get it on the front page...
What other people have done, when they submit new maps, is at the bottom of the descripition, they put that they have updated the older ones.
Some of my maps are about 2-3 years old and people still download those...

Yeah, you're right. Is there a way to stop those people from that keep on updating their maps?

Its called test it until its finished b4 posting...lol
I have to agree with both things Xaero mentioned...Some folks would toss in a bush a day or something and say its updated, just to keep it on top.
This would also be abuse of the map database.
His other suggestion to add a comment of a new map about the updated old one is good...Besides, you can view all maps by the maker very easily, thats
how you can find them faster....
You can also use the search feature to find a map by name or by the mapper...Trust me, all the tools are here, you just need to learn to use them.
Hope that helps...

well, i want to post this in a new topic, but since this one is related....
It would be a good idea, if you put more space at the Latest map window on the front page. Users could see, which map was submited before the first
and even if some wacko submited 3 in row, those b4 him could be seen. My suggestion is to put five spaces, so you could see the latest map and the
four b4 that one, or make a window for each type of the game so you could see the latest map for BHD, JO, DFX, DF1 etc... what do you think?

The sometimes the same map would be up there for weeks... I usually look at it, and if there is the same map I saw the last time I came, I usually
don't bother to look through the maps, if its different then I know that new maps have been posted.
Still, it would probably a lot of work to get it set for only a certain game, plus I don't know how much of an advantage it would be.... Also, they
would have to make about 10 sections because someone will complain if a certain game isn't there....

Well
Heres an idea...
1. Make a good map for jo jo-e bhd ect
2. make it custom objects like floating transport cargo boxes
3. Make it big but not to big or it will be laggy like some maps
4. If you think they need updating do it I do if I notice any problems
5. Have fun.
