dx9c xp sp2 and other things

dx 90c was released last week, gf released their 6277 drivers for.
All works fine on machines here

Ati have cat 4.8 drivers for it but havnt tested going to wait for the final release.
Have tested with cat 4.7 and 4.7 omega with no probs

Looks like XP sp2 is to be released very shortly....best info here

http://www.scotsnewsletter.com/59.htm I have the utmost respect for Scott, and have subscribed for many yrs now, way back to early win 98 days.
Bear in mind when it comes to virus scanners and the like, his thoughts are for workstations/networks/servers NOT gaming machines. So I dont always agree with him, and is usually dependant on the end use of the machine
As u all know, I work with both.
I do reconmend to subscribe.
Theres 95% crap out there on the net and glossy mags, Scott is up there with the best.

Mods may like to sticky this for a while....
or even a driver/ update/ tool release thread, notification thread. not for general posting???

Yeah, we said that above..there hasn't been new drivers since Version: 61.77 Release Date: July 27, 2004..I just checked..

I posted the links above, so you guys can easliy check for updates, although, I did make a spelling mistake in the DirectX9 link..it said 9B, but still went to 9C, so I fixed the error..

Thanks

I bench as diff vers are released, sometimes they sometimes not and sometimes any diff is marginal
the ti4200 is getting rather obsolete now
time to upgrade to at least a 9600xt

Steptoe - I notice above that you also mention Windows XP Service Pack 2 coming out soon.

I remember when it was first released and had been advised by numerous people from different sites to NOT download and install it.

So far I haven't.

Can you advise as to whether or not it is now a stable ugrade and safe to download and install? I just received another notice from Microsoft that it is available for download (all 75 megs of it - oh my aching dial-up !).

Quick Update:

Service Pack 2 found and installed.

So far no problems. Required some adjustments to the firewall to play LW/TFD and BHD on line. Other than that it's loking good.

Thanks again folks.
