Vehicular Suicide

CapnJSnow - 1-17-2008 at 06:50 AM

Long time DF Fan, first time BHD player/Map maker.

Easy to understand site. Having difficulty finding info on why larger sizes of radii for WPs makes vehicles act odd, turn wrong way to go to next WP etc.

Also can get BlackHawk to wait, take off, then land after visiting waypoints, but can't get .50 armed vehicle to go back to trigger spot and park again.

Any clues? I will keep looking here, but thought I'd set a "claymore" to do my dirty work while I snipe the answers.

Found quite a bit on event use for slowing vehicles.

Also found info on waypoint size.

can't verify if this will solve my vehicle get to the next spot, turn around, come back and park to reset problem. Any other suggestions welcome.

Very good system, should have looked harder before throwing up the white flag.:P

Could try spaceing your waypoints a bit farther apart, if they are too close, it can cause probs like your saying...

Or set the vehicle to 'loop' and then have it pause in the trigger.

hope that helps.

Which begs the question: If I want the Helo (heli) to circle the town a couple of times is there a way to assign a waypoint that is in the middle of the WP path to be used multiple times?

For Example:

If not would putting waypoints that are not in the same path on top of each other cause problems, or is it only with the NEXT waypoint in the path?

You cannot have two different paths out from one waypoint if that is what you are asking... You can have it go off in a different direction, and when the helicopter get to a certain point you can redirect it back to the first waypoint so it goes into a circle until you tell it to continue on with following the entire waypoint list.

Articulation of desire is not one of my fine points.

I should try the several ideas I've collected on the subject tonight after shift and then write back when the headaches escalate into anurisms.

Success

Got everything to work just fine.

Some tweaking needed to get everything to park EXACTLY where it was before the event triggers, but I assume that should be do-able with waypoint downsizing. We'll see.

Also do vehicles need time to slow down or do they just drop speed immediately? I set some area triggers and events to slow the truck down en route, but it won't slow down.

It is a HUGE help if you spend hours oogling at Anoshi's AI TUT (and ripping the code off verbatim in your events :D )

You can manually slow/speed up the vehicles. Theres posts on that around here too.

It's all here if you look.
And I think your articulation is fine...You just need to quit being lazy when posting and spit it out...lol

Help us help you.
But you seem to have a grasp on what your after.
