tomb979 - 9-29-2007 at 07:55 AM

hey
just wanted to let you know theres a player rating maps just to lower map rating of game.....player name is "JIMBO_0900" and he's doing it so his or his buddies map show's a higher rate than those around it and he's not leaving any comments.....i'm betting he's never even played these maps?for all the maps he rated was on first page of JO:E map data base... the maps he lowered the ratings on was = Operation Blowfish - don't look back - Quebec_Soldier_Mission - GE?s Kuwait Naval Base ESC... and the 1 he gave a perfect rating was = King Kong...i'm thinking this player was an accountant for "ENRON".....i realize this has been an on going problem here... and wanted to give you guys a heads up on it.

Thank you for point him out. I looked at all of his rates and they are neither fair or acurate. And no comment, which i find annoying.

I have removed his access from the map database.

many thankx

You know something funny, when a map gets rated as a 1 they seem to get more downloads than a 7 or 8 because some people are curious as to why a map may get such a low rating.

Anyway I agree with the lack of comments, and if someone rates a map and no comment for good or bad I ignore the rating. So maybe the ratings system could be linked to the comment part and if they dont comment then the rating doesnt get submitted? Its an idea and i think maybe AB or someone else that AB trusts with some PHP coding skill could modify it to work?

it has been an idea for a very long time jet it probobaly wont be implimented due to time and resources though

The people might just put a space or something for a comment... probably be better if we could remove ratings, but that probably won't be done anytime soon...

ill agree with chris 100 percent here...
also why we cant remove bad rates on maps without removing the map entirely.

I can remove ratings and anything else a user submits from the Nuke sight i maintain, I know DFB has alot of old coding in it and it is not Nuke based, but i am sure a good PHP coder can further customize the code to allow moderators to have complete ability to do their job. And i agree that there is not enough resources to pay a coder to do the work, but there is time enough to do it.

Anyway, i think the mods here do their work better than most sites i go to do, even if there is some crippling code.

*edit
What happened to your status and forum post Chris? did your account get deleted somehow? 14 posts and you have been around DFB longer than myself!

Corection -"chris removed himself.....

nuff said and no elaboration needed."

Should be - "chris removed his moderator status nuff said and no elaboration needed."
