Use page up or page down to zoom in
To help keep your map size in perspective, up in the top left corner you can change the grid size.
Your pic is set to 512m - which means that each one of those squares you see made by the black lines is 512m across. You can change it using the - or
+ button in the top left corner to make the grid size smaller, which will help you make smaller maps.

Just a word of advice:
You can save time by putting in less waypoints that go in a line.
Like your green one,
near the bottom there are about 5 that go straight.
