Solution: 5 second punt!

Well, after years and years of this problem, I found a solution!

Let me first introduce myself.

I used to be part of SniperVille squad, and was known as SV Mr.Pimp. I quit the squad, for reasons I cannot remember, played the game for a while, then just quit. I got new interests. Then, recently I saw the commercial for the movie "JarHead" I felt the need to play Black Hawk Down. I ran downstairs to get the disc for BHD and BHD:TS. I installed them, updated and everything. Went to play online, got punted. I reinstalled the game about 3 or 4 times with no luck. I tried different updates every time, but nothing changed, always punted after approx. 5 seconds!

I found a solution to this. I was thinking tonight, about how we solved this last time. Then, I talked to my dad who has the game on his computer, and it WORKS, so I took a look at his files, and compared them with mine. Turns out that the files "localres.pff" and "EXP1.pff" files were different sizes. I copied first the localres.pff file, went to play online, still got punted. Copied over the EXP1.pff file, played online, and it worked!

So, it's confirmed that NO it is NOT a video card problem, ping problem, or anything of the sort. And reinstalling it a billion times does work, it worked for me before, but honestly, it's a pain in the ass, isn't it?

Oh, and for reference, compare your filesizes of the localres and exp1 files to mine (people who have a working game and who have non working please, for confirmation!)

localres.pff: 221,874 KB
exp1.pff: 330,627 KB

I hope this helps you all in getting your games to work. And I did buy the game, just so you know.

Well..mine are..

EXP1 = 329,948
localres = 223,058

Ok... This actually only delays it, and it happens about 1 minute into the game. I just replaced this file:

IDGL.dll: 136 KB

About to test.

Ok, I replaced pretty much all the files with the ones from my dads computer. I need sleep though, I will check this out tomorrow, I have been up for 21 hours off of 4 hours sleep. Someone try to find some solutions please!

Well, I fixed it. I uninstalled the game and then followed eagle eyes directions in another topic on this forum.

Now, only 24 hours after releasing Team Sabre, the 1.5.0.5 patch was released..so you need to download that patch...it's just over 28megs, you can get that from here...

If you don't want to insert your Cd everytime you play, you can download the NoCd crack from http://www.dfhq.net/

Any probs...let me know...Don't run the patch from within the BHD directory...run it from a temp folder..

Bah this game is killing me! I think I've tried fixing it longer than I have actually played it!
