NOVALOGIC Just Don't Get It

Why is Nova making there games to copy EA's Battlefield (they used to be a pioneer).
The changes in the Comanche engine are degrading the game.
The character motion in JO is cheesy like old games, the new ballistics stink, the sniper guns suck and the vehicles have made the game-play a laughing stock.
I hope they don't get the dumb idea to use the JO engine for BHD successor.
Also I believe JO is Dead as they now have a questionnaire on there site about what don't you like about JO.
My question is why not fix BHD then make a new game.
also there net code sux and is a bandwidth hog (hence the laggy servers).
they tried to stop cheaters by moving all action server side which increased the load on the servers 10 fold.
Why not incorporate punk buster and reduce the load on the server.

Im serious this is my rant: All you people out there that bought a game straight off the shelf without playing the demo first are idiots.

If you wanna moan about nova go to nova and moan. You bought the game you you dont like the game i personaly love joint ops and im in servers most days of the week.

If you dont like it take it up with them because i visit nova forums regular and they are all starting these sort of topics so join in with them dont spoil my day.

Yeah im in a grumpy mood but im also sick of people moaning about things that cant be changed.

well, I think nova's games are great. The JO engine is great and JO has the best helicopters in the business, why it even has useful mortars. While there may be better games like battlefield 2 or half life 2, I say JO and nova's games are still stunning games and they should keep making the likee they have. Nova couldn't further from idiots, they may have some stupid and frustrating parts, but so what, all games do.

Personally I've quit playing Nova games for awhile. Mostly because of lack of mod support by Nova. Thats my biggest complaint about Nova. I do see where Chrislew is coming from but Nova has screwed the pooch with JO update and Xtreme. My problem with Xtreme is that they left many things in that editor that doesn't work which is just laziness.

I've been playing Half-Life2 and building maps with the Hammer editor and I must say Valve has done an super job not only with the game but also with the support they give you after the game is bought.

I think people have a right to complain but should direct it through the proper channels so Nova gets the hint we are not that happy with them.

Everybody has a bad day and I must admitt that complaining for the sake of complaining is agravating but Yur- Maker does bring up some valid points. I've heard on other sites that Nova may be using the UR2 engine for their next games. I hope so.

Also i did play the DEMO and I got the game given to me but wish they gave me ghost recon 2 Instead.
I Like some of what they did like the day night cycle and the terrains , its just the game play and other things that took a turn for the worse.
NOVA seems to listen to the game raters and not its hardcore fanbase............
Not to mention its half finished games the last 3 releases.
Chrislew you don't have to trash me to make a point, just post why the game is good in your opinion.
I say The game has these bad aspects.

1. Bad character Movement.
2. Terrible ballistics.
3. Just too many useless vehicles.
4. The Glitchiest release I have ever
seen.
5. Blatant ripoff of Battlefield.
6. Cheesy buildings and Objects (Even
Land-warrior had better buildings.
7. Stock Maps way too large.
8. Water is poor quality graphics.
its the same water if you put BHD on
LOW graphics.(it looks Phony)

The Following are things I like ...

1. Awesome terrain and tree graphics.
2. Day - Nite cycle.
3. Terrains are improved.

JO isnt a rip off of battlefield. Large Scale is the new thing. Are you going to call every large scale based war game a "rip off of battlefield"? As for the vehicles There are only a few (about 3) which I can count that dont have any mounted weapons (useless?).
The stock maps are large because they are made to suit the possibility to host for 150 players online! which is record breaking. JO is deserted because of bad support to fix the game and an out dated engine.
The game is good. It feels good aswell, perhaps novalogic could fix the feel of the vehicles though... but nothing will happen if their just flamed all the time!

Battlefield franchise was the first real "large" scale vehicle game in the market then came OFP which revoultionized Vehicular games and tactical games alike, RTW was the first i believe to have a 64 player compatible servers. so technically large scale gaming has been around for quite a few years, its only now with the T1 connections that companies are able to produce large multiplayer games able to support 150 players.

As for copying and ripping it's apart of the gaming company, each game has been ripped at least once by another company, companies like to take techniques that were successful in one game or mod and implement it in their own games adding new features etc. to wow the customers and giving them an edge in the competition. When JO was first released it really gave the BF franchise a run for its money, then came the problems and BF2.

As i said countless times Nova is in the deep end of the pool, there in a hole in which they can't get out of. Unfortunately if Nova is to keep creating games that they don't support then there not going to be to successful and bigger corporations like Ubisoft and EA will buy them out.

Agreed consumers have a right to complain if they forked out $50-60 for a game in which the company rarely supports.

BS2 nothing will happen if Nova does nothing, they also won't do anything if the customers don't ask and give constructive criticism. Then again Nova just sits there doing nothing.

Actually Yer-Maker i find that the water graphics in JO are pretty good compared to BF2, in BF2 for some reason its blocky in JO its smooth.

1) Mission Editors. Most other FPS games either don't have one or they have one that's so complicated you have to have a degree in computer science to use it. The mission editors give Nova's games an infinate replay value.

2) Modability. Yes, games like BF2 can be modded as well, but as above you need some serious computing skills to do it. Nova's games are easy to mod, and BHD actually CAME with mod tools!

Actually, Nova games are not easy to mod and Nova totally dropped the ball with JO and DFX concerning modding. I agree with the med statement in some ways but you are very limited to what you can do with a Nova game considering every terrian, building, foilage etc... is a prefab.

I think Nova's problem is they act like a modding group instead of a game company and there public relations suck.

I totally quit nova games because of their lack of mod support. I wish they would take after Valve the maker of Half-Life2 . Valve actually promotes third party mods through steam. As of now, you pretty much half to beg Nova to support a JO or DFX mod and there are so many rules they have set that I don't think they will ever except a mod for JO or DFX.

I agree with M21's point about Valve and their amazing support for third party games and just support in general. Valve has recently created new SAS player modles for counter strike source, why? because they want to give something new to their players... they are making now new maps for half life... why? to give something to the community that loves playing their games. It wouldent be much to ask for Novalogic to throw out just 1 update to fix the problems with their existing games...even some new maps wouldent hurt!
Generally Novalogic support must be neirly the worst if not the worst support I've had for any game.

Nova saw that the large scale vehicle warfare was popular so they took the idea and as i said added more features to the game. i.e. 150 player servers, Punkbuster etc.

Ever goto the Men of Valor boards? now that's flaming at its best.

Nova is behind in the competition, as i said countless times, Nova needs a miracle to get them back in the game. With games like Ghost Recon 3, Battlefield 2: Special Forces, BIA: EIB, Splinter Cell 4, COD 2, DOW, OFP 2, COH and Whirlwind of Vietnam, Nova has little to no chance in competing against these titles and companies.

Problem is if there are that many suckers who buy their games, they wont improve.

Novalogic has gone down hill...good titles were df1, df2, and dfbhd...other games are found in the bargin bin of walmart...

I played those titles only...i tried extreme at a friends house....improvements yes...but not enough to woo me...from battlefield 2.

Novalogic is a third rate player in the gaming industry in my opinion, compared to css and bf2...those games....sigh....well im converting to them.

Novalogic used to be so good....it used to lead the crowd in FPS with military games.....but now....other game companies copied their idea...and improved greatly...while Novalogic is playing catch up instead of leading.

Novalogic needs to get its act together...

What I would recommend they do to gain a foot hold is

number 1 advertise

number 2 make a good quality game with quantity.

Look at df2...so many missions

They should build a game, that utilitizes 64bit capibility...while still providing support for 32bit cpus, and eye candy....which means better graphics.

More guns, buildings, terrain, characters / skins, and vehicles....and a constant updates and patches

which include more missions and the stuff I listed above.

I'm not read the whole thread, cos I'd be here all day, I have just skimmed through it..

Here's my own opinion..

DF and DF games are totally different..Period..

BF was hard to map for..originally..you need a bloody degree LOL..

DF has always been easy to map for, and is the reason why DF games as far back as DF1 are still popular..site me another First person shooter older than 2 years that still has major support..

As for the engine..C4 is way old, well before any BF game, and, was that good, it's still being used today as the basis for JO, and DFX.....drivable vehicles in a C4 Engine where possible before BF, just no one bothered..LOL..

At least I can fly a helo in DFX/JO without crashing the bugger in 15 seconds flat..

So, cos these are only games, played on moderately powerfull PC's, and not some Multi Million Dollar Governement Simulator that has everything that opens and shuts, I think we have a pretty good deal no matter what game we choose to play..after all, Playability is what it's all about..if you want realism..Join the Air Force, and go play with a real Simulator..Me, I like to play games...

I can Only Hope that NOVA see's the light and uses the Crytek engine from far cry for the next Delta Force Series.
Also I Play Delta force because I don't like 150 man servers, I wish the limit was still 16 as it made more servers active and far less lagg on the servers.
Also I wish that the serverlist would only list active servers with 2 or more players in it.
As this would make more servers active also and cut down on the 57 blank pages.

If they use the Crytek engine, mapping will die..

The reason the DF Series has lasted so long is that it's easy to map for, and Nova supplies the Med with install..

There's nothing wrong with the C4 Engine..it's a proven winner, sure, it's not perfect..but, it's only a game !!

JO is going to die. I have bought DF and DFBHD and those games are terrible. I believe Rogue Spear came out along that time, and I believe that game blows away anything Nova has done previous to JO.

Now with the new update the FPS has improved and the graphics and sound are better. However they killed the mapping community. That was the only reason I took interest in this game. It was easier to map for.

It is a shame however that NILE was never finished. I'm pretty sure it has been abandoned completely. Nologic is a 3rd rate company and their support is the worst I have dealt with as well.

On the good side of things, I bought BF2 and what can I say? It blows the doors off JO. Even without coop support. The map and mod editor is one tool and I think it will be harder to operate. It's just a matter of learning something new. There are tutorials for the thing just as there are forums on here for people using NILE.

I've had fun browsing the forums on DFBarracks and downloading and playing all of our custom maps, but my time with Nova is over.

Look online now, not even half of the servers that existed before the update. It wouldn't take Novalogic much to find out they trashed their game. Read through their forums. Every topic may as well be a rant and rave. They have angered and broken their community.

It doesn't take rocket science to know what not to do to your fanbase.

I'm a big fan, because of the above mentioned "infinate replay value"..and any kid can make a mission..

I love DFLW..mainly Coop, cos we have a small LAN group..

Now, we play a lot of DFX..it's really very good..

I rarely play TDM etc..cos I can't stand the murders, and the excess use of explosive devices like grenages/203's and AT..whatever happened to shooting people !! LOL..

I like to play on my local server, it runs Coop, and pings at 21..which is just great to play on..

I've just started mapping again, now we have something to SP and Coop with again..

I've seen BF2 demo, and it's all to "Busy" for me..

DF Games are my Cup of Tea..

I will say, i pre ordered this 1, hoping for an almost cheat free enviroment. (im sure that wont be the case for too long, lmao). If in fact as i type this,i'm not too sure that there isnt some form of it going on in DFX. Nova has many issues w/this game to resolve, im sure they probably will not. Their lobby servers get more then 10 peeps in a room, and the game ping spikes, el-lago. The vehicles are used for glitiching, and (cough cough, RUNNING PEOPLE OVER,LMAO). Most of the time, the rooms seem to be stacked 1 side or the other, ie: alot of seemingly good players all on 1 team. And, i still havent figured this out yet,lmao, some players see 800 meters to score w/an m4 while moving is beyond me,lol. Um, maybe its just me though? :cool:

Time you boys jumped the fence to BF2 like the rest of us!!!! I only have a couple of complaints about that game. You can't lean and the aiming is a bit weird to get the hang of. Other than that it is a much more stable game with awing graphics. And it isn't made for kids!

DFLW was a fun game but things have gone downhill since.
Also The trainer use took over DFLW.
as for the explosives, there in to balance the guns, other wise everyone would be a gunner.
As with the m60 one in the toe and your dead , while the car15 3 in the chest and your still green.
I say no 203 or gunner just snipes , meds and special forces.
Darn gunners just lagg everything up with there spray and pray.
In BHD the demo was better than the game as they just allowed car15 and m21 = low lagg.........

nothing in bf2 impresses me to buy it at all, so im staying put. yeah, nova has issues, but you whiners only sit there moaning and complaining instead of trying to help them resolve the issues you find, so be off with you, so the ones who are trying to help can actually get them to see something other than whining.

the mapping community isnt destroyed just because you cant mod. how many mods ACTUALLY take hold in our community???????? very few, and then those rarely have enough people to keep them alive.

the way i see it, if your not willing to help fix these issues, then by god, take your a** somewhere else so we can get our game fixed.

i will be honest i havetried bf2 but i dont like it. And as EE said with the DF games it doesnt take a genious to create a simple map.

Fair enough the latest update by nova was a little disappointing as the custom maps in npj and npz would no longer work with the game.

But hopefully they will sort that issue out very soon so those people using the nile editor can continue.

I dont need to keep fixing the game as it never broke down for me and still enjoy playing the coop maps as much as i did when joint ops came out in fact the only reason i have broadband is for that game and visiting this site.

the update was indiscriminate chris, even some of the maps in .bms dont work. this update screwed up some darn good coops, but i have not had any probs with custom mp maps.

the update also screwed up the a&d support of the game, but there is a workaround to that without any fixer.

o, and el_B, i dont mean to sound harsh, but the "im tired of nova, yada yada" crap just gets old after hearing it over and over for the past 6-7 years.

isnt it kinda simple that if you've got the game play it or throw it out... its really that simple... i played JO and hated it so therfor i got rid of it... i started playing DF2 about 5 years ago and still play it almost on a weekly basis... i started playing BHD/BHD:TS about a year ago and am still playing it... its just simple... if you dont like a game dont play it and get on with your life cause its not worth gettin all mad about and whining to everyone... if nova wants its customers then they'll start payin attention... if they wanna die off then they'll keep not caring...
