New Stufts for DFX

DeadGuns_x - 6-17-2005 at 04:31 PM

Just let all map makers, specially DM, TDM, TKOTH to know that you can use somes of the stufts object buildings, Trees, from JOTR, JOES, BHDTS to the DFX to make your map more color full. Players Who are only have DFX when go into the mission game, they see all that new objects without problems. You can test in my map update Coop DG_x OP White Arrows then you can see I tranfer some objects from JOES to dfx and it is good to all out there without JOES they still can see and play in mission. Players not need to download anything. Happy ending to all want to know what is going on in JOES and TS.

Thanks for the update DeadGuns_X.

Of course you know this will bring the inevitable countless questions of 'How do you do that?'.

If you could post the instructions on how to get these items into the med for use in DFX it would be appreciated and save a number of unnecessary posts.

Before doing this fun stufts, we must have the game install which contain the Mod we want to have in the other game. I have 3 games install in my system. BHD (TS update if you have TS), JOTR (JOES update if you have JOES) and DFXtreme.
Use Nile Map Editor to open the map you want to work on them. Right now I open one of my DFX coop map. After the map open, look at the top left corner Nile map editor you have to go to File then roll down to the Preferences, right click on the Set Resource Directory. The white box popup ask you Browse for folder. Browse to C:\Program Files\NovaLogic\Joint Operations Typhoon Rising. Click on the JOTR yellow folder.
Again the other white box popup ask you Select Mod Resource, click on the mod you want then Click OK (I use JOES then then the mod here is jox01)
Go to Object Palette then place an object as many as you want to the your DFX map.
After you done your work place JOES objects on the DFX terrain map, DON'T Forget go back to the File, choose Resource Directory is DFX. Now you can Save your mission with Npz or Npj as you like to name them. All set, you can use the game to open then u see all new sufts in there.
Hope this help.

Okay, I tried this and after setting the resource directory, the items from the other game do indeed appear in the objects pallette. But when I tried to place one of the objects in the game, I get a pop-up box that says "selected item cannot be created".

Anyone know a way around this?

EE or someone that has worked on a mod like terranova may be able to help you with this, try talking to them

The most i love in all df games series is TerraNova Mod1 and Mod2. But there is the dam thing I note that, the Novalogic give people the hard time when they want to play with the TerraNova Mods. I try to combination TerraNova Mod with the dfx or the others, some work some done. I can read all data files from df games and tranfer them to the others game, but just only work for me not for the other players. So I give up.
