SP Mission Linking

Eagle_Eye - 8-26-2004 at 09:14 PM

OK, the easiest way to link a number of missions is to use the Mission Link box in an Area Trigger.

This is useful when you have a big SP mission, but the file size, or decoration limitations become an issue..

Create 2,3 or more maps, then, link them with an Area Trigger.

ie, create your first map, then, at the end of a section, or completed Win Condition, make the player enter an Area Trigger, then, The next Mission will load, and the player carries on..

Most important, is the naming of the bms files, this method only recognises 8.3 file names, so, make sure your bms file name is no longer tha 8 characters, plus the bms extension..

ie.. EESP_001.bms

See then pic below of an AT set up to load the next map called EE_Test. please note, DO NOT include the bms file extension when typing in the Mision Name.

OZ, if you mean to post a Toipic with a picture, you would need a host to host the picture. It CANNOT be in your hard drive.

OK - will you just get over this!

You have asked many times in many different posts and according to your own count received thousands of responses from Novaworld ------ ALL TELLING YOU THE SAME THING.

There is no way to do this other than the methods that have been suggested to you but you refuse to accept. Nova World is not going to release their secret magic teammate following commands or their room takedown capability (if such things even exist).

This is a post (by an Adminstrator at this web site) about linking missions using Area Triggers. It is not another opportunity to ask something for which you already have every answer you're going to get.

Move on to something else now PLEASE !!!

If you insist on continuing with this - find the answer yourself instead of simply telling everyone else to do it for you !!

Yes, I hosted the pic on a website, there are no links other than a url, it's not contained in a web page, I took the screenshot purely to post in this thread....

This way, I can share my info/findings with other mappers..

Now, get over the lack of support from Nova, and get down to some mapping..

SFA-TrSniper - thank you for the helpful comments and advice you have provided to this thread.

As you may or may not know, there are many features to map making using a variety of resources such as the wac files, the various med programs etc.

Not each and every 'trick' as you call it, is know by everyone and the purpose of these forums is to share information with those who are trying to learn.

It is not the normal practice of members who support these forums to keep things secret, and by the same token, they do not just post everything they know. There would be no end to the forum threads and they would be too long and involved to be of much use to anyone.

As a result, when questions are asked, if an answer is known it is normally provided. Where it comes from and who knew it first really isn't much of a concern.

The goal is making maps and making them the best they can be using all available resources.

Well said my Friend...

Also if you do a mission with the sp "Mission Link" Thing, go up to the area trigger with your knife out. step into the area trigger to load the next map. when the map comes out you will have your knife out still. the only difference though is that everytime you swing, a bullet will shoot out of the knife!!!!!:o If you change your weapon the effect will disapear. you will have to go to the mission linking thing again in order to make it work!

Shadowhawk

Anyway thankyou EE i might try that mission link.

Old Thread - New Question

MadMac22 - 2-7-2006 at 09:32 PM

I am trying to tie missions (maps) together and embed them into a Campaign for Comanche 4 (C4), and was referred to this thread.

The engine for C4 and BHD are the same. However the editor for C4 does not have the Area Trigger Item Attributes options as Eagle Eye depicts in his screen capture.

But it does bring up three questions-
1- Has anyone used the BHD editor to edit or build C4 maps and if so, did it cause any problems?
2- Does anyone know how to link C4 maps together?
3- Can someone tell me how to use the Campaign Variables options in C4?

Thanks Everyone,
MadMac22
