Just to pass this along to anyone else who might be having similar problems. I have a new HP laptop, and was having terrible video lag problems in
maps that had lots of texture and lighting.. almost unplayable at times, and trying to snipe.. well, that was mostly impossible.
What I did was turn all of the settings down on low.. that helped quite a bit, but very slow and couldn't snipe still.. I read something either
here in DF Barracks or on the Novaworld forums about shadow. I turned shadowing off last night and for the first time played high texture and
lighting maps with almost realtime results. The other maps worked even better. I was able to snipe (scope was unusable - because of lag - before
shadow being turned off ).
I get to play BHD at home and work (mostly on Saturday.. 12 hours and nothing to do..), so the laptop is the way to go for me. I have cablemodem at
home and highspeed at work.

HP Pavilion zv5034us
ATI Radeon 9100 IGP card w/128 mb ddr ram
512 mb ddr ram memory (I need to upgrade this, since video card takes 128 mb)
60 gb hard drive
usb 2. firewire, dvd player/cd burner, digital media card reader
Wireless 11.g card (works great at home, low ping times)
Ethernet card for at work
