Memery does play tricks these days, so not sure if I already replied to this one Guys. I am probably one of the Oldest , at 61. Started with DF1 and straight throught the lot. Registered with Nova years ago as TheWidowmaker. Cut idown short to Widw, with Noskill. So Now I am Widow_Noskill. Still have not got much better ,lol, But I do enjoy the game. That my Friends is the most important thing of all.

Well, after reading all the posts, I'm taking a deep breath to tell you all that I am at least a couple of months older than 70. Sorry, Luckyjfl (Widow_noskill), but I guess I'm now the oldest to confess. I hadn't planned on posting my age in my profile because I didn't want to be left out in the cold by the young'uns. I will say this, that until each time I look into a mirror, I seem to look out of 35 year old eyes that wish they were 25. My birth certificate says I was born at 7:00 am on Friday, December 13, 1935.

I may be old in body but I'm young enough to play computer games. EE said something like you gotta do something beside mow the lawn. I agree. Not only do I still mow the lawn but in the winter, like now, I shovel my 60' x 15' driveway everytime it snows but I would rather play on the computer. Sadly, when the snow gets to be deeper than 8 inches, I have to shovel to get the car on the road.

Command & Conquer, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun, Age of Empires 1 w/ ROR expansion got me started. Then I came across DFL2 demo and that started me in playing DF. I trained as sniper in US Army using an M1 Garand with open sights shooting at 1000 yard man-sized targets, and when I started playing the DF2 demo, it was unrealistically easy to hit very distant targets especially using the scope and binoculars. I then got DFLW and that was a bit harder but I still could take everyone out with one shot using the scope in prone position. I even used the prone position inside the pyramid and could take out each enemy before he could react. Recently I bought DFBHD, and found that I could effectively use both crouch and prone. My problem became my unawareness of map scripting and when I went for a hill on my left, I was declared AWOL. Bummer!! My thinking was that if I used the hill as an advantage I could snipe out everybody in the same way that I could in the DF2 demo. Oh, well, if you don't succeed, try, try again. SniperS... says I should go in and flash-bang 'em all.

I'm a newbie here, and I have received some help and advice, so I hope I will improve my skills

I do intend to backtrack though the DF games and obtain DF1 and DF2 so that I will see the progression of game changes and difficulties.

Hah, I am 52 and just servived a heart attack, and the first thing I have done when I came home from the hospital was turn on my computer.

Age is not inportant, having fun that is the real way of life. so I think I start a little late with gaming but I love it!

but it's good to be young you can do lots of stuff im not saying the ppl around 16 to 38 cant do and thing when i hit my 50's i'l be grumpy and old but thats years away if where still here at the rate where going we will destroy the planet

Man, why do a have a feeling that those born in '93 are weird? Cannon is talking about taking over the world, Silvermouse plays tons of games and knows more about DF and JO than Novalogic. At least in '91 there were some important events back there, like Gulf war and fall of U.S.S.R. ... Too bad I missed it. I was born on November 14, 1991 ,LoL

I was born when australia watched it's first Television broadcast. I was only a few months old when Melbourne first hosted the Olympics. I can remember building my first computer back in 1978. ( 1K of ram...) I have been working with and building PC's for the last 20 years. I still play games on the PC (both old and new) and will probably do so for some time yet.

I envy you young teens etc. You have a whole lifetime ahead of you. Enjoy it. Don't waste it. Enjoy it.

Okay, so I saw "I Love Lucy" before syndication ... what surprises me is the younger fellas having interest in the older games (DF1 thru DF5 at least). What is it that keeps your interest? I have started to learn mapmaking and that keeps my interest ... what keeps yours?

BTW: my birthday is the same as my moniker (from Azimov's "Caves of Steel" - 1954 ... do the math!)

i do that, but ive moved on to Far Cry for xbox to do maps, easier...

i guess for me is becuase i need to update my computer, and maybe the "friends" i have in the game
